Why did Jesus ask “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46) [Spirituality & Religion]

Had God forsaken him?
Did he not know why he was suffering?
Was he a devout but mundane man who despaired at his death?

God forsakes sin, so, Jesus took on all of our sins and put them to death once and for all. God forsook Him for that short a time.
@GodSpeed63

But Jesus knew the plan, didn't he?

That's right. He willingly laid down down His life for mankind and took it bake up again to defeat death. This is how much He loves us.
@GodSpeed63

So if he knew the plan, why did he think god had forsaken him or why was he asking?

Why not? Wouldn't you if you knew you were going to be separated from your father?
@GodSpeed63

Well no, if i was carrying out the plan me and my father had always intended, i wouldn't ask why my father had forsaken men. I'd know that he had not because this was the plan all along.
So why did Jesus ask why his father had forsaken him?

@Pikachu
Well no,

Did you and your father get along very well?
@GodSpeed63

Yup. All my life. Why, did Jesus not get along with god? lol
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
Yup. All my life.

Jesus and the Father are one, you can't get any closer to your father than He has with His Father which is why you may never understand why Jesus asked that question on the cross.
@GodSpeed63
Sounds like you don't understand why Jesus asked that question either🤷‍♀️

Through His Spirit, I do understand.
@GodSpeed63

Doesn't sound like it otherwise you'd be able to explain it🤷‍♀️

Didn’t you say they were one and the same ?

Didn’t you say they were one and the same ?

No. Jesus said it. So?

@GodSpeed63
Then how could he forsake himself even for a short time.

Didn’t you say they were one and the same ?

To save mankind from forsaking itself.

@GodSpeed63
Doesn’t answer the question. If he’s god, he can’t forsake himself.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@DocSavage but as the perfect man, the second Adam, he could take on the sins of the world then God the father forsake him while he paid the price for the world's sin. When Jesus stated "It is finished" fellowship was restored.

@Baremine
You can’t have it both ways. If Jesus and god were the same, then he can’t forsake himself, and there would be no sacrifice.. the more technical you make it, the more it defeats the purpose. Who is he trying to fool ?
Baremine · 70-79, C
@DocSavage the devil has certainly fooled you.

I’m an Atheist. I don’t believe in god or the Devil. You’re blowing smoke, trying to hide the holes in your story. It doesn’t work.

Distraction is a tool used for when someone can't answer difficult questions.
