@basilfawlty89 My uncle had an African gray named Petey. Unfortunately, Petey died a few months ago at the young age of 21. Usually his species live well past 55. The cause of death is uncertain, but Petey used to peck at the drywall behind his perch and my uncle thinks there was lead paint in the wall, and Petey may have inadvertently poisoned himself.

@BlueMetalChick that's sad. They're really loyal birds, and quite affectionate, but they demand quite a bit of affection and are aggressive.

I just see you two talking about pet birds and more knowledge than me.

Out of curiosity, what bird would you say is lower maintenance and would make the best pet bird?

Though things with wings (birds, wasp, etc) don't seem to like me, so I'm probably not going to rush into anything.

@Viper Wasps. Aye. They're super cool and badass but Jesus are they frightening. I'm also deathly allergic to them. Getting stung means I'm on my way to the mf emergency room.

@basilfawlty89 Wasps are mean but they do a good job controlling pests.

And it depends on the variety too. Yellowjackets are considerably more aggressive than European hornets, for example.

@BlueMetalChick I can only forgive stingless honey making wasps from Mexico.

@basilfawlty89 Cicada killers I actually quite like. They're docile enough that you can even pick one up if you're gentle.
