For those who don't believe in the bible, the verses don't help. But if you study the historicity of Jesus as a person, you realise the evidence that he existed and that we have a substantial record of his words is pretty well established.
Jesus claimed to be God. He did this in many ways and on many occasions. There are only three options:
1. He was deluded. (He was wrong and didn't know it.)
2. He was telling a lie. (He was wrong and did know it.)
3. He was telling the truth. (He was right.)
Christ is one of the most respected and influential human beings in history. He inspired other people who inspire us like Gandhi, Martin Luther King and others. His words have inspired millions. He presented ideas that dignify the poor and vulnerable, promoted non-violent response to injustice and wrong. Taught love as profound action even for your enemies.
I find him the most inspiring and together human being I know of. The idea that he was lying or deluded doesn't add up for me. That only leaves one option...

We don't know but we can choose to believe him so.
Some of those umpteen quotes seem nearer the Unitarian than Trinitarian interpretation of the stories, and some faiths revere Jesus as a very able teacher but fully human not divine; but please note that I don't claim any one is any more "right" or "wrong" than any other.

You have some knowledge but not like him.
You're right. He's doesn't know enough to avoide being deceived by it. I was like him once, with just a little knowledge of the bible, so I was deceived by it too. As I learned more, I was able to see through that deception. Keep studying it with an open mind - there's hope for you yet!

You realize that if Jesus and god are the same. It renders the whole crucifixion story pointless. He gets nailed to the cross, then goes back to heaven after a rough weekend no worse for ware. He didn’t sacrifice anything. Not even his only begotten son.
If he were in fact god, he could have simple said, ok, you got a clean slate , but behave yourselves or you’ll end up burning. You get one second chance, get it right this time.
Always thought that bit didn’t make any sense.

I was just concerned that someone had hurt his feelings or he wasn't feeling good since he seemed irritated and upset with christians. As you are too obviously. According to ancient scripture the Romans could not come up with a body, after crucifixion, to prove that he was dead, he appeared to over 500 people after he was crucified, his miracles are documented in "non religious" texts and he was the only one ever preannounced....Mohammed, Buddha and everyone else was not. Just to name a few.

@NortiusMaximus You need His Spirit to understand it. That is why I find it so funny when unspiritual people like you try to discern the Spiritual. As I so often say you are trying to describe a rainbow despite the fact you were born blind and have never seen one.

@BlueSkyKing These verses do not contradict but they are addressing different situations. In war its ok to kill, it is not murder. And the Jews who were slaves were Gods' people assigned to writing the Bible and Gods laws. As Gods representative we see how God helps the helpless. So God took them out of slavery and gave them their enemies land. He told them that he would conquer their enemies without their help. It is a demonstration how God helps us when we trust in him. You want to be on Gods side!

@ExperienceDLT Anyone really studying the Bible will not think he was a crazy man, since he did the miracles and was raised the third day infront of 500 people willing to die testifying. And it could not have been a myth because of the fulfilled prophesies. The Bible was written before today. And today we see prophesies fulfilled. Like whats happened in Israel being gathered again just like God said in 1948. And over and over he said

There aren't any definite unambiguous prophecies in the bible. Just vague metaphors, some of which have been interpreted to fit actual events. Some Christians have claimed the birth of Jesus was accurately prophesized but even now, supposedly post facto, no one can say when that was.

@Harriet03 God The Father, Jehovah, poured his wrath and punishment on Jesus, His Son, to save us from eternal Hellfire because He loves us. Jesus took the shame that belong to us. He died for every rapist, murderer, and hateful thought. But because he is God 3 days did the job. But that makes it amazing because he did not have to do that for us who are so sinful and selfish.

You find it hard to cope with any different opinion, expression of doubt, request for evidence or alternative interpretation of beliefs. That is why people criticise you as they do, though I accept some who attack you, are just as dogmatic in their ideas and so are equally non-persuasive.
You seem not to realise that to your message on SW reads as God and Carazza right; anyone else wrong. I am afraid you merely undermine yourself - I don't need criticise you but I still wonder what you hope to achieve and point out your basic obstacle to doing so!
You do not make yourself persuasive, if you are trying to convert anyone, and that is why I asked what you do gain from it.

I know that the verses also saves some people from hell, because they repent and turn to Jesus, and follow him. The Holy Spirit Saves.
