Christians and Jews: why do you suppose that God demands the sacrifice of blood? Why does an omnipotent being need blood to be spilt for forgiveness? [Spirituality & Religion]

NorthernBear · 51-55, M
God is really a gargantuan mother mosquito and needs a lot of human blood for her children. South Park was so close with that queen spider. So close. But she's a mother mosquito.
@NorthernBear

lol that's probably not it.
AuRevoir · 36-40, M
I mean the answer is obvious.. u just gotta read the beginning basically..

Sin is death.. There was no death before sin.. Equivalent exchange.. 😪 it’s nothing complicated at all..
@hartfire

Could be. Honestly i have no idea how aurevoir is thinking or constructing his argument because he shut down the discussion on the basis that i hadn't understood him and was therefore not worth the time lol
@hartfire
Pretty good assessment of me, actually. I'm flattered.
The only thing i disagree with is that i'm not particularly interested in changing what people believe about a god. I'm just interested in the debate.

Although you praise me a bit too highly by suggesting someone needs to look up the arguments against my positions lol.
@Pikachu Thanks for the clarification. :)
Many Christians do not have genuine faith in the sacrifice and teachings of Jesus. If they did, there would be no demands from them for any more blood sacrifices for sins.

The penalty for breaking the original Commandments was death...

...As to why? the best person to ask would be God Himself, and one day you will have the chance. People tend not to do such a good job of explaining things in a forthright or clear manner...
Like how does ripping a dove in half and splattering it's blood on an altar help you cleanse your sin?

Why is the sacrifice and burning of innocent animals a "special gift" to god and a "pleasing aroma" ?

Does god like bbq?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Pikachu Right? If you think about it, how would sacrificing an animal you don't care about, help you atone for a sin.

I've always thought that you would try to be a better person to atone for something horrible you did. It doesn't make any sense to give something else pain for your own misgiving 🤷‍♀️

Of course, I don't approve of doing something to yourself but the irrationality of sacrifice doesn't make sense.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
The wages of sin is death but the gift of God leads to everlasting life. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. Jesus paid that price on the cross for us all.
@GodSpeed63
I'll cut and paste so you'll get better understanding.
A good precedent. And going forward please always feel free to copy and paste an answer you felt you gave when i ask that kind of question. It will really speed things up.

But help me out. Because it appears that what you have said is that we need blood to live, therefore god demands blood to atone for sin, even the blood of innocent animals.

Why is that?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu
But help me out. Because it appears that what you have said is that we need blood to live, therefore god demands blood to atone for sin, even the blood of innocent animals.
I also said that Jesus paid the price for all sin. Weren't you paying attention?
@GodSpeed63

No i get that. It's another blood sacrifice. I'm asking you why ANY blood sacrifice is necessary to god.

Well?
ammelee · F
Blood is not needed anymore.
Blood is sacred and the price on our heads was great...blood is no longer needed/the price was paid
precious for precious
life is worth more than a red lollipop
@ammelee

Why?
And going deeper, why does god accept the death of innocent animals as a price for sin?
Why does he demand blood?
ammelee · F
@Pikachu you need to understand the importance of blood /there is no substitute
@ammelee
you need to understand the importance of blood
That's exactly what i'm trying to do with this question.
So...what is the importance of blood? Why does god demand death for atonement?
Blood is essential to humans and animals, to give blood is to give life. An honourable sacrifice for a God
@HeartlessLove

Blood is definitely essential to humans. But why is it essential to god?

And why does god accept and even demand that the blood of innocent animals be spilt? How is that an honourable sacrifice by a human?
@Pikachu God considered animals to be clean and unclean. He required clean sacrifices because the aroma pleased him and with our sacrifice showed obedience which also pleased God.

*Kings were harder to please.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HeartlessLove The aroma of corpses pleased him, the smell of the slaughter would be awful 🤢
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
For the lulz, God just wants to see what humans would do just because his men who wrote the Bible says it 😌
Talesfromthedarkside · 26-30, M
Humans will never know or understand the true reason? 🤷‍♀️
@Talesfromthedarkside

Humans will never understand why a god would demand blood and death. I'm just interested in discussing it.
travelguy01 · 41-45, M
Cuz all the books about God were written by humans, and humans are dangerous bloodthirsty animals. 🐅
@travelguy01

Well that would be my position as well. But i'm asking for the "in fiction" answer.
travelguy01 · 41-45, M
@Pikachu Well the “in fiction” answer could be anything if it’s fiction. So then it’s because of....werewolves.
