The only thing I admire in churches is the architecture. Pre 1800 & when they're empty!

I enjoy some religious music, but I find religious services to be torturous. "Awesome God" is a great song and Skillet's content is fucking lit. 👌🏿
ChildOfTheWasteland · 36-40, M
@BlueVeins I used to have two 15" subs with a 1000-watt Sony Xplode amp in my vehicle, and I had a hip-hop version of Awesome God on a CD. When I was in the driveway, pictures would fall off the walls inside my house.

@BlueVeins yeah sure. I really like this song

@LikeTheSun It's well-made, but not the style I usually like.

I like the buildings, the icons, the candles.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
I have enjoyed some of the music. You don't have to agree with lyrics to appreciate music.
ChildOfTheWasteland · 36-40, M
@Powderflask I agree.

Some hymns are quite pleasant, but as for the services, I eye-roll so much I get dizzy 🤷♂️
ProdigalSummer · F
I enjoy the hymns and music but not usually the sermons.
BridgeOvertroubledWaters · 61-69, M
@ProdigalSummer I also enjoy the hymns ... but I prefer the hers !! 😆

I don't enjoy attending services. I seem to always get the mass that reminds people to donate a lot of money. If the priest has a good homily... that's great but a lot of times they suck.
The music isn't bad. I like the older catholic songs and the older Christmas songs.
Christian Rock is about as bad as modern country music. I can't stand it. A lot of good Christian things are pre-1900. Like a lot of Classical music was Christian inspired.

@SW-User Don't get me started on country music.

I enjoy religious art and music, Johann Sebastian Bach. Yeah being alone in church is meditative.
Of course there are non religious places that also can be meditative spaces. We can also in the future create places designed to be meditative without being religious.
I understand the religious stories have an appeal also. But the Greek myths have a much bigger appeal to me.
I avoid services and church people though, that's when they try to get in your business.

Not really. Most religious music is not very good and to preachy for me.
Nika2002 · 22-25, F
I like many Christmas Carols. I greatly dislike sermons.

Yes actually. Just as long as it isn't gospel. That stuff sucks. And one can attend services simply for the social atmosphere. Or even a good debate if you find the right people.
ChildOfTheWasteland · 36-40, M
@canusernamebemyusername Absolutely! It's a lot like meditation for some people.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
I never cared much for attending service even when I was religious. But religious choir music is very relaxing and almost spiritual with how enveloping and diaphanous it is
ArishMell · 70-79, M
I like a lot of the music but the only services I attend are funerals; with one exception when two years ago I was invited to the ordination to deacon, of a friend.
curiosi · 61-69, F
No and no, once you have been to one service you have been to them all. Shout at me that Jesus died for my sins.
SW-User
Yeah, I like religious music. Not a fan of attending services, though.
walabby · 70-79, M
Services are tedious. Most of the music is dreadful. Some of it is awesome, though..
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
I like gregorian chants..they are performing all the 80’s hits and im diggin it
BridgeOvertroubledWaters · 61-69, M
I enjoy attending services.
I enjoy the communal togetherness and atmosphere.

I don’t attend services anymore. But I love a lot of classical music that was originally religious. I don’t care for gospel music, though.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I’m not such a fan of the music played at the church I previously attended. But I personally love the community in a loving minded church.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
@ChildOfTheWasteland not my cup of 🍵 but certainly different from my previous churches tunes
