Why weren't the Israelites able to conquer some of the cities in the promised land? [Spirituality & Religion]

God promised to give over all their enemies to them as long as they remained obedient.
And aside from an unfortunate event in the city of Ai which was rectified by killing the guilty party and his entire family, they do.

So why are there a few instances where they Israelites were unable to drive the enemy from their domain? The Canaanites, Geshure, Maacah and the Jebusites apparent;y could not be removed and continued to live among the Israelites.

[c=#BF0000]*Never mind, this is answered in Judges[/c]
Because god isn't real they weren't chosen.

Absence of proof isn't proof of absence🙂
Scientifically speaking, a lack of evidence doesn't prove a thing doesn't exist, it simply does not support the existence of that thing.

You assert (and i agree) that the burden of proof lays on the one making the claim.
You made a claim: god isn't real.

So can you prove that or do you fail to meet your burden of proof as the claimant?
@Pikachu The entire discussion is based on your original post. Provide proof now and stop beating around the bush.

The question of my original post is posed within the context of the story.
It makes no claim about god's existence.
And this is obvious when one takes a moment to examine the question:

If god were not real and did not promise victory to his followers then the fact that the Israelites failed to capture some cities is not surprising. No one wins every time.
So within the context of the story, i wonder why they failed to capture these cities.
No claim of god's existence.

Deflection denied.
So can you prove that god is not real or do you fail to meet your burden of proof as the claimant?

Why are you obsessed with these sort of questions? It has become a fetish with you.

The problem is you never seem to be able to give a proper answer because you never seem to be able to understand as your understanding seems to be less than average. The problem is you deal with things you don’t understand and then make a right fool yourself to those of us who do understand them. Alright to the atheist here you might appear smart but they don’t understand what they’re talking about as well but they do give me a laugh as you do with the boneheaded reasoning. Now can’t you get it into your dear little skull In which there might be something called a brain that God told the Israelites even before they came into the promised land that if they disobeyed him then he would leave the Canaanites in there. It doesn’t seem as though you can get that point because she was so obsessed with the other one. You have got an obsessive compulsive order I know and when you get something in your head it’s a job to get it out. But please try and realise that@Pikachu
@Speedyman

lol speaking of obsessive...let me just sift through the whiny, obsessively repetitive insults there for the actual content....ah there's the one sentence of it:
God told the Israelites even before they came into the promised land that if they disobeyed him then he would leave the Canaanites in there
Oh dear, oh dear. You seem to be mistaking this curse (which in scope clearly applies to what happens after the Israelites totally turn away and are repeatedly conquered) with the few specific cases for which god makes his purpose explicit.
The blessing describes what will happen if they obey and the curse describes what will happen if they turn to other gods. And that's what we see when there are no judges alive. But for these specific towns, god his own self says that they were kept there to test and to train.
I can't spell it out any more simply than that🤷🏻

And don't think i've forgotten that your initial, uninformed answer for why they failed to capture these towns was " that the conquest lost the initial momentum"😆 And then when i demonstrated that you were wrong, you had to desperately google so you could appear to have even the slightest idea what you were talking about.
I know you can't stand to be wrong and you'll never admit it even though you now realize your mistake so i won't expect you to concede here.
But i also won't waste any more time schooling you on your own faith.
Pearls before swine and all that😉

There is absolutely no point in talking to you because she don’t appear to listen to any form of reason whatsoever. You have this mental disorder where you latch onto things and take them as true and then when somebody logically point something out to you you appear to think that you are right . But the fool despises instruction and you are a good example of the fool. Sorry mate but I have studied these passages again and again and you are completely wrong in what you are saying. Unfortunately you will not be told and I know you are not coming on the Internet because you want to gain knowledge but to just try and look clever. Well you might look clever in the eyes of certain morons who don’t know anything but to meet you who knows what I’m talking about you just look a silly little boy. So bye-bye Littleboy. Sorry I can’t help you anymore@Pikachu
again one of God stepped down on Eart and made a speech...
Fun fact; i guess they masturbated a lot back at home...
@blooblookookoo

lol didn't follow that...
Like we care... 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤱
