I just can't accept the notion that a god who loves anyone at all could order mass murder the way he has. [Spirituality & Religion]

His chosen people are ordered to kill thousands of people, nations of people not even sparing the women and children. After all, that Promised Land was far from empty when the Israelites showed up.
I can't accept that notion.
Or at least i can't love that kind of god. I certainly couldn't.

Where do you suppose that leaves me?

i am an agnostic and because of this i cannot conclude that there is no god but out of respect for a god that may or may not exist i consider the bible, the tora and the coran to be some of the most blasphemous books in history. humans, claiming to be writing what god thinks. any TRULY religious person cannot take seriously any idea that a man can have on this topic or any book claiming to be the word of god, can there be a more pretentious, devoid of humility, concept. i like the east indian expression "neti neti" which basically means "not this, not that" , what ever you think about god, its not that. the people judge and murder and hate in the name of this idea of god that they invented.

@Emosaur 😂😂 kids 🙄... What the fuck are you talking about ? did you even read my comment. I am a textbook agnostic, in no way do i claim that god doesnt exist and in no way do i say that i believe that god doesnt exist. Agnostic: a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.

@Emosaur like you have have demonstrated, atheist can have slightly different meanings and is often used by people who claim that god doesnt exist. agnostic is absolutely not ambiguous. i do not associate with the term atheist, i would think of myself more as an advaitist (from advaita vedanta). i do not talk about what i think god is or even try to intellectually form an image in my head about this because anything i would say or think would be a limited, primitive idea existing in the mind of a human and not the actual thing.
