This might be a stupid question but i'll ask . Do you think breathing meditations is going away from Jesus if your suffering ? [Spirituality & Religion]

Why I ask ? Is that a person who's close to me said it's going away from Jesus if you do breathing meditations when in pain , and being honest the person is after putting the fear of God into me now over , cause I dont find it harmful I know some exercises are harmful for the spirit but I dont know about this .
The person thinks suffering is getting close to Christ in his belief and thinks breathing meditations is a way to take you away from Christ. What's your view on it ?

The person is an idiot. Think with your own mind.

@SW-User hugs back 😊
@SW-User No doubt!! 👍️
Do the breathing meditations if it is to help heal pain or your body. There's nothing wrong with that.
One can go overboard in anything, including "religion". This person is really wrong.

@Keepitsimple you can say that again . Some of them be reading stuff from books and the message can come from a bad place

These people are nuts! Like their brains aren’t wired correctly when they read that crap and believe it. @riseofthemachine

@Keepitsimple I know . I read some books but only meditation books and stopped until someone put me off them . And I swear I was in serious pain since I stopped. I nearly ended up crazy cause I'm very gullible and believe everything that everyone says instead of making up my own mind
There is a joke - but it’s meaningful, too.

A man is sitting on the roof of his house during a massive flood, asking God to save him.

In minutes a boat sails up to his front door, and the captain hollers for him to climb down. The man thanks him but says, “God will save me.”

A while later, three frogmen surface in his front yard and call to him to come down. They have oxygen and will tow him to safety.

Again the man politely refuses. “God will save me.”

Finally a helicopter darts in and through a bullhorn they tell the stranded man they’re going to lower a basket and pull him up. He waves them away. “God will save me.”

As the sun sets the man starts to worry and he prays, “God, I trusted in you to save me, but I’m still here.”

God replies, “I sent you a boat, three frogmen and a helicopter. Is there a particular rescue method you prefer?”

@Mamapolo2016 😂😂😂. Very good . I like that one .

It sounds totally insane to me, but if people want to avoid breathing meditations for that reason, it's their choice. Personally i'd do whatever you need to do to help with the pain.
No, I do not think so. God gave you a brain and it is not blasphemy to use it.

@Mamapolo2016 that's a great answer .thanks

"A person that asks a stupid question is stupid for a minute, a person that doesn't ask a stupid question is stupid for a lifetime" ...or something like that.
Nope. When a religious person is suffering, he prays to God. Even a non-religious person will pray to God when he's suffering and doesn't know what to do. Christ doesn't want us to suffer, he wants us to overcome our limitations.
Breathing meditations may have started as a part of the religion that is preaching calming your spirit and having full control over your body but I don't think they are necessarily related to any religion (i.e. if you're doing yoga you must believe in Hinduism - no, anyone can do it).
The reason your acquaintance has said that might be that, when researching these breathing meditations one might get in touch with the philosophy of a different religion and by living by their rules might abandon the rules that his "previous" religion has.
If you're unsure about it, I suggest asking a priest or a theologist.

I think it depends how you meditate. I wouldn't have a problem with breathing exercises if they actually worked for me, but I'd do them my own way (praying or meditating on God) and not trying to get my mind into an unnatural state of emptiness. My dad told me it was not good to empty the mind, but to keep it filled with good things as much as possible.

Meditation is also a religious practice: with perhaps as little positive effect as prayer. Nothing wrong with deep breathing and yoga, though.

@Stereoguy so do you think breathing meditations are good or bad ?

Don’t take the word of anyone who believes that every living creature on earth lived within walking distance of a boat build by a 600 year old alcoholic.

metaphysics is evil for religious people
💆‍♂️
Even when I was pious I’d have strongly disagreed with that person’s assessment.
