This might be a stupid question but i'll ask . Do you think breathing meditations is going away from Jesus if your suffering ? [Spirituality & Religion]

Why I ask ? Is that a person who's close to me said it's going away from Jesus if you do breathing meditations when in pain , and being honest the person is after putting the fear of God into me now over , cause I dont find it harmful I know some exercises are harmful for the spirit but I dont know about this .
The person thinks suffering is getting close to Christ in his belief and thinks breathing meditations is a way to take you away from Christ. What's your view on it ?

"A person that asks a stupid question is stupid for a minute, a person that doesn't ask a stupid question is stupid for a lifetime" ...or something like that.
Nope. When a religious person is suffering, he prays to God. Even a non-religious person will pray to God when he's suffering and doesn't know what to do. Christ doesn't want us to suffer, he wants us to overcome our limitations.
Breathing meditations may have started as a part of the religion that is preaching calming your spirit and having full control over your body but I don't think they are necessarily related to any religion (i.e. if you're doing yoga you must believe in Hinduism - no, anyone can do it).
The reason your acquaintance has said that might be that, when researching these breathing meditations one might get in touch with the philosophy of a different religion and by living by their rules might abandon the rules that his "previous" religion has.
If you're unsure about it, I suggest asking a priest or a theologist.
