Eh, if it worked like that, I'd still be an atheist. Not for some terrifically principled or closed-minded reason; it's just that I'm so neurotic that I'd probably convince myself that I'd go to Hell anyway as a Christian, lol. But to answer your second question, Pascal's Wager leaves out the other infinite possible states of affairs, the "Prankster God," for example, who only sends Christians to Hell and everyone else to Heaven. Ironically, being an atheist is just as likely to save your ass from eternal flame as it is to condemn you to it.

What would I have to lose by switching to monotheism...?
Self accountability, my personal progress towards enlightenment, my free will, thoughts free of fear of big mean sky daddy's punative repercussions for simply making human decisions...
Shall I go on?

Even as a child I really struggled with understanding the mindset "well I should believe and worship this certain way just in case xyz is going to be how it all goes down."
That's what the neighbors have basically taught their kids whom in turn have taught to my own kid and tried with even me. Their eldest at 8 flat out told me I should believe in her god so that I don't go to hell and aren't I worried about it? Nope. I'm more worried about her spreading your fear based doctrine to my impressionable kid.

you cannot believe by default. you can’t just know in your heart a truth, but state the opposite in the name of self-preservation.
by the way, i do believe whatever we believe actually happens, but only for seconds in the brain, like a dream, before we are actually fully deceased. it just seems like eternity…

If what I consider, on balance, to be the case following death is what actually happens then there will be no eternity, no heaven or hell for any corpse - regardless of belief or non-belief during life. End of life is precisely that, end of life.

'Cause the odds of the universe being ruled by an evil entity that punishes us for believing in any kind of God are just as likely (that is, not at all).

I wonder if pretending to "believe" is enough to save yo ass??

That old chestnut.

it’s not so much about that but it’s about crediting god for fortunate events or praying to change of some sort - people consider that silly when they don’t beleive.

I’ll make my own religion then where I can do whatever I want and then get to go to ultra mega turbo heaven.
