Is it hard to be a modern, empowered woman who loves and follows the bible? [Spirituality & Religion]

The bible is very clear about what a woman's place is in the hierarchy of the home and the church.

Is it difficult for a bible believing christian woman to reconcile the teachings of the bible with the modern notion that women should be equal to men in all things?

Empowered means having the courage to live the way she wants to. If it's according to the bible, that's her choice.
@Straylight

What if she's a bible believing woman and she DOESN'T want to be subservient as the bible tells her to be?

@Pikachu Well, then she has to make a choice. But I think that if your political and religious beliefs are at odds, then one of them isn't for you.
@Straylight

Well perhaps. But i think the answer you've just arrived at is "yes, it is problematic to be a feminist and a bible believing christian".

@Pikachu Then she can cherry pick the parts she likes. That's what most people do anyway.
@Straylight

I don't hold with cherry picking the word of god whether most people do it or not.
But if you're cherry picking the bible then you're aware of the conflicts in your worldview and your holy book...so then the answer is " "yes, it is problematic to be a feminist and a bible believing christian".

Yes?

@Pikachu Only of you're holding to a very specific view of feminism you site here. As a broad (if you'll pardon the term) statement, then no, it's not. You're saying a feminism is about not being subservient, but that's not the point at all. I think most feminist Christians would hold to the bible first and be fine with it.
@Straylight
You're saying a feminism is about not being subservient, but that's not the point at all.
I think that's pretty much the entire point of feminism.
You can CHOOSE that if you want but it should never be the assumption or the requirement which it unavoidably IS in the bible.

@Pikachu You asked if it was problematic. All I said was that if that's what they want to do, then it's not.
@Straylight

So...then if that's NOT what they want to do then it is...right?
Are we agreeing or disagreeing here? lol
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Pikachu I dont know anymore. 😅
@Straylight

Well good enough for now then lol
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Pikachu It is, ultimately, accepting the bible only so long as it agrees with them. And I suppose, if you're Christian, you should put the bible first.
@Straylight

Well as you say, an awful lot of cherry picking goes on.
