Do we have to be religious and pray always so they will say that we are a good person? [Spirituality & Religion]

No. How you treat other people is more important. (Based on the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5-7 and 25:31-46.)

Being “good” is not what gets one to heaven. Jesus said so. The determining factor of one's authentic faith relationship with God is not one's denomination, religious practice or performance in Christian disciplines, but rather the presence of the indwelling Spirit of Christ, upon confession of faith. As it is written, “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom.8:9) Jesus' invitation always stands open for anyone to receive forgiveness, be welcomed into his family, and live eternally in heaven.
Anyone can be “religious” and act the part. Knowing Jesus as one’s personal Savior is about a relationship with Jesus, not about religion. There’s a big difference. There are religious people all over the world, that do not know God, but outwardly try to convince people they do. Even Satan knows God, yet he’s not saved.
We cannot earn our way to heaven by doing good works, as mentioned in Ephesians 2:10. We don’t get to heaven by being good. We get to heaven by asking Jesus to forgive us of our sins, which then brings us back into fellowship with God the father, and then live in obedience to His Word.

Who say? And no you do not need to do that to be a good person. Being a good person is a choice one makes. I pray but I don't do it so others will think I am good or not.

You should pray not to sound good but because God desrves to be praised.

We pray not for the approval of people, but because we desire to speak to God. God delights in the praises of His people.

I pray to the Lord daily about all things.

I admire anyone who prays and gets something from it.
It was never my thing.
But respect is there.

But how do you decide who to pray to?
That’s up to you, but I know God hears our prayers. We know that prayer is simply talking to God—and the most important thing I can say about this is that God wants you to talk to Him. He loves us and He has promised to hear us when we pray.

Prayer is possible because Jesus Christ has removed the barrier between us and God—a barrier caused by our sins. Jesus said sin separates us from God, but by His death on the cross, Christ paid the penalty for our sins and removed the barrier. God then gives us the privilege of coming into His presence when we commit our lives to Christ.

The Bible says, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

No, but I think for some people the routine of it helps.
At it's best it's an attitude of gratitude, though i'm not religious and i'm grateful in my own ways.
