Hit a deer with my car just now 😶

It was dark out and she ran out into the road. Didn't notice her until she was already in the road bc I'm inattentive. Slammed on the brakes, but hit her anyway. She got up off the pavement and bolted to the parking lot with the fawns.

I've heard stories about people being hit by cars, going home, and then collapsing after the adrenaline wears off and being unable to get help. I hope she's ok out there. The fact that there's no damage to my car seems like a good sign, like I didn't hit her crazy hard.

@Thevy29 I want to know the name of the person who originally filled that out. That person is an internet legend and needs to know it.

I remember once in Texas, a deer jumped right over the hood of my Toyota echo. Its hoofs came oh so close to the windshield. 😞

You just couldn't see it coming. The road was sunken from the rest of the area.

@Jimbo7 huh? Private property on 83 acres! They can make a dirt road anywhere they want! That's were I lived the first year in Texas!

@DeWayfarer oops wrong question answer friend
It isn’t a matter of being inattentive most times. Those guys can appear out of nowhere. Unless they are far enough out that you can see their eyes glow, you’re pretty much at their mercy.

Mine totaled my car. Legs went into the radiator and body pushed the hood into my windshield. Thankfully it was a do or I probably would have been disemboweled.

@Pinkstarburst That sounds traumatizing.

That's so sad! You should pay more attention, you may not be so lucky next time and end up hurt. Be careful out there.

no damage and bolting on her own bode well. i'm sorry this happened to you
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SW-User It was my own fault, really. Was rattled at the time, but weirdly I don't feel anything about it now.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SW-User As always, you're a sweetum.
Bambi killer 😡

Yes, I hit a deer and killed some of her fawns while driving too- it was a rather rowdy night at the pear tree inn..... bit of alcohol in the system.

The damage to my car was extensive 😡
@iamonfire696 It was a bit of an outrageous evening... we didn't leave the pub till 11 in the evening... most fun I've had since the London Beer Festival of '89!

@TheAlanPartridge you drove drunk. Thankfully you didn’t hit a person
@iamonfire696 Good Lord if I hit someone...... would I have killed a future UK Space Agency Astronaut or someone who'd ask me for 50p in Norwich city centre?

No damage is good. I always get nervous about this.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Damn dude. Up your attention level. Driving isn't a game. Damn!
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MarkPaul I knowwwwww
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@BlueVeins I'm glad you are okay. Seriously. 🥺
BlueVeins · 22-25
@MarkPaul You are very sweet.

It happens so quickly, especially in the dark. My husband has hit 2 of them and he’s a good driver.

Sorry this happened, are you okay? No pains this morning?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@iamonfire696 I couldn't feel the collision -- or at least, couldn't distinguish it from the deceleration from braking. I'm perfectly fine, just hope she's alright out there. I was rattled but kinda settled down by the time I got home. You are very kind.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@BlueVeins that’s really good. If you didn’t feel it, she’s likely okay. It’s still really unsettling to know it’s happened.

I haven’t hit a deer, I hit a skunk and it sprayed my SUV when I hit it. Every time it rained for awhile it was so bad.

I am really glad you’re okay 💜.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Well, buddy. It happens. It sounds like the deer was at least okay enough to run off after. Maybe it will be a happy ending for her.
