What is the point of trolling?

Are they that miserable and bored? I just don't get the purpose of putting others down in your free time.

I have wondered if it is cause there is so much societal injustice
so much unfairness and being hated for no good reason
that it feels great to actually give people a valid reason to hate you?

it's like they are kicking a dead horse trying to make it get up and move.
