Is the k12 school system intended to teach children to survive and/or prosper?

I’m convinced k12 does neither which is why everyone needs a post secondary degree to be employed at a livable wage.

An associates degree (and/or 12.college credits) should be part of the k12 experience. I forced my high school years to include science research and publication. 12 credits across 3 years and I won awards from the Army and Navy for medical research.
