Why do I keep hearing people describe others as "Jews" especially in a dismissive tone?

What exactly does it mean to be a "Jew"? Isn't that a bit like calling someone an African or a European?

And is everyone from Israel really a "Jew" or are they Israeli?

I'm open to input here but I get a sneaking suspicion that calling people "Jews" is a bit too convenient for everyone besides "Jews".

I did not know this was a thing
@TurtlePink Calling a person a jew?
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@SinlessOnslaught as an insult? Or in a derogatory way? Not at all.

@TurtlePink or are you talking about when they say it with disrespect? Like the same way people say “the blacks” when they’re referring to African Americans.
@TurtlePink Yeah I hear people accusing "Jews" of things as a whole, mostly on vague and complex things that aren't very substantial.
@TurtlePink Yes like that.

@SinlessOnslaught that’s sad. I know people who are Jewish and they’ve been good people. A few bad apples shouldn’t mean the whole group of people are bad
@TurtlePink Yeah that's what I think to myself when I also hear people rejoicing because Iran is being bombed. 😆 Like EVERYBODY there shot at Americans.

@SinlessOnslaught all this violence just needs to stop. But I feel bad for those innocent people who probably wanted nothing to do with anything
@TurtlePink Yeah. ❤‍🩹 It's happening all the time
