NYS proposes a limit of 700 cows per farm. . . Some thoughts.

A) it should depend on the size of the farm? would that be per acre? Per hectare (about 2.5 acres)?
B) the stated concern is runoff of cow manure into New York's waterways and groundwater. Better management of storm water runoff and pesticide infiltration is as much if not more of a concern; in my oppinion.
And C) the distribution of wealth by local\family owned(small time) farms is at risk being able to compete with farms of industrial scale outside of the state of New York. Any feedback. . . Or thoughts? Please respond.
Furthermore when is the opportunity for public comment\forum?

Where i live virtually all the cow manure is saved and spread on the fields where feed crops are grown .I guess there could be some runoff but most is tilled into the soil

In the UK plans for "super dairies" (1,200 + cows) were rejected in the 2010s because the proposers (who were city-based financiers rather than actual farmers) were unwilling to invest in practical solutions for dealing with the manure.

@ExperienceDLT idk its a new policy i only know a few farmers all small time one has 3 cows the other two are just crops (mostly apples) have a horse and dogs.

Did the state give a reason for the number ? Like they don’t want industrial, mega farms that will create monopolies or something like that ?

@exchrist at least people in Cali and other states got to vote on it . At least republicans got to vote who would represent them as presidential candidate. But seriously I don’t like when the democratic process is subverted.
