sometimes i talk to my male friends and im hit with a sudden wave of sadness

knowing theyre actively voting to reduce my rights as a human being

Same, and not just male friends. I've had several family members vote to let me die during the pandemic, and then downplay it as being entitled to have different opinions when I asked them to explain their choice. 😬

@NerdyPotato i threatened a law suit against my employer during that time. They ended up backing down against everyone else.

It’s a reason that I’ve largely backed off from Trump supporters here. Sadly in some cases, but they can’t really care about me, or in some cases, even themselves. In real life I have no Trumpers among my friends, because this is too serious.

For me it would be like befriending a Neo-Nazi or Ku Klux Klan member.

@bijouxbroussard ive been wanting to maintain a relationship with my family after the loss of my mom but it breaks my heart hearing how they speak on lgbtq, poc, women. i just moved to a red state and its very sad to see people vote against their loved ones, and at times, unknowingly themselves

@bijouxbroussard same... I can disagree with someone about politics and be great friends regardless, but disagreeing on who deserves to live or die (or whether I deserve to live or die) is something we will not overcome.

Just when we think we know our friends, we suddenly discover that their beliefs are the opposite to our's. If we had known that about them in the first place, would we have maintained that friendship for as long as we did?

Just know that if you should ever need their support for your rights as a human being, they will not support your views nor your needs. At least you'll know that going forward!

@swirlie nothing shatters you inside quite like having a silly conversation and then they say something that lets it slip that they, in fact, dont truly care about you. i think im going to take sime distance from one friend, but the other i live with and need to maintain some peace with :/
