It's the way of the world sonny Jim.

You are in my age range so I thought you'd know this.

Once you realise what your friendly acquitance work colleagues would do to get that promotion over you, you'll get it.

Yep, they'll behave like your 'friend' at work until the moment comes when they'll claw right through your back to get their scuzzy mitts on that promotion. Got that right, there are no 'friends' at work. Some naïve deers in the headlights can't imagine it even exists, until they feel this odd sensation right in the middle of the back.
@PatKirby Exactly. I have made friends from work but they've proved genuine because I still see them after I left the companies.

@BritishFailedAesthetic its not how the world works
@Guitarman123 Dude- you have a job like I have one. You should know how it works.

In a world with original sin this is the way it works unfortunately.

@BritishFailedAesthetic jobs that require co operation, not dog eat dog
@Guitarman123 From memory you work customer service- watch the reaction with your colleagues when the role of trainee manager comes up.

If you are management apply that to branch manager, etc.

@BritishFailedAesthetic they don't act any different. If it was dog eat dog then society would have collapsed long ago

@BritishFailedAesthetic mutual aid and co operation is as much part of nature as competition is
@Guitarman123 Yep but turning from God got it into this state.

Stay competitive.

@BritishFailedAesthetic turning from gos enabled people to become more enlightened and independent thinkers
@Guitarman123 Gos? Anyway the world doesn’t work like that- psssst it didn't in the Soviet Union either.

@BritishFailedAesthetic god. Enough people have enough intelligence to not base their whole way of living on an imaginary figure
@Guitarman123 Oh good sir, I wish I was as intelligent as you.

@BritishFailedAesthetic the enlightenment period helped change people's opinions on religion
@Guitarman123 And many revivals happened during that time too- no more cereal box answers.

@BritishFailedAesthetic to quote karl marx. Man makes religion, religion does not make man

@BritishFailedAesthetic its a false sense of security and false consciousness
