The right to carry a gun means you’re ignoring everyone else’s human rights

@nedkelly Americans know it's gotta change. Americans understand that their history is very problematic and needs to be reviewed.

Gun safety does not violate Second Amendment rights
Myth: Gun laws violate the freedoms guaranteed under the Second Amendment. In the 2008 case District of Columbia v. Heller, the U.S. Supreme Court explicitly stated that the Second Amendment does not grant an individual the unlimited right to own and use firearms in the United States. The majority opinion, authored by Justice Antonin Scalia, stated: “Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited. [It is] not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.”
In the 2022 case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen, the Supreme Court struck down “proper cause” requirements for concealed carry permitting in five states and Washington, D.C., invalidating a key safeguard for ensuring those who carry in public do so lawfully and safely. The court’s increasingly conservative decisions and massive shadow lobbying campaigns funded by the NRA have left gun violence prevention advocates concerned over a future push to redefine Second Amendment rights. However, even with the Supreme Court’s conservative stance on a variety of issues, commonsense policies such as extreme risk protection orders, safe storage, and background checks are still constitutional.

And how does this affect on how to read your previous comment on the US constitutional rights?
Edit: Aww, I thought so, no answer for that, eh? Thank you for the block.

@SUPERVlXEN Gun safety is the left's new word for gun control.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@nedkelly That will be of little comfort when some thug pushes in your door and robs you or your government changes from a democracy to a tyrannical form.
JPWhoo · 36-40, M
@nedkelly The Second Amendment was passed to assure southern plantation owners that they could keep weapons to put down slave rebellions. Black slaves outnumbered free whites in large areas of the south, and the plantation owners needed an advantage over the slaves since they didn’t have numbers in their favor. This is 2023, and now we know that slavery is wrong; therefore, the original purpose of the Second Amendment we now recognize as unethical.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@JPWhoo Poppycock, there was no north south thing in 1791 and if you read the founding fathers you will find that they refused to go with the new government without the bill of rights, the first 10 amendments. The second amendment was clearly passed in order to secure our freedom from the type of tyrannical government they previously endured. It was like never again and we will shoot you if you try.
JPWhoo · 36-40, M
@Subsumedpat Guns won’t help you if your government turns tyrannical. Violence only begets violence, you shoot them, they shoot back at you. The protection against tyranny is to elect government officials who run on policies that benefit all segments of the population. If some of us are not well, then none of us are well.

What are you saying? That the South didn’t have slaves in 1791? That slavery wasn’t outlawed in the North? There have always been deep political and cultural differences between North and South since white people came to America. I’m trying to imagine a way in which your comment is not hysterically inaccurate, and I’m coming up empty.

What's your point? Do you think bullets fired by some mass shooter into a group of kids and teachers in a school will only find the kids of parents who are progressives, or what other knee jerk remarks do you have in store?
