How do you want your friends (male or female) and/or your partner to comfort you when you cry?

I am old school, where males do not cry

I would normally NEVER cry in front of another human being...if I did, it would be involuntary. AND if I did, I would be tremendously embarrassed and angry with myself, and I would want complete privacy, and I would want everyone to leave me alone. There was only ONE time I wanted someone. It was at my father's funeral in Iowa, and I couldn't stop crying. The ex just walked with me around the church, and held my hand. That was perfect.

I don't typically cry much in front of others. I certainly don't want smothered.

Ignore it because I’m probably embarrassed.

Hug works better for me

I want them to tell me to get it together and be a man. Pull my socks up and be ready to put in work.

Maybe a hug but most times I cry in the bathtub 🛁

I don't need any comforting from anyone.

Depends. I tend to cry in private, so if they see me crying, I’m very distressed. If we’re in public, I’m generally trying to stop and pull myself together, so it’s easier if they don’t react.
If we’re alone and they hug me, that helps.
