Would you volunteer for 8 hours in one day?

There's a place I want to volunteer at. I've always heard of it.
They seem to really help people but, for 8 hours??
What if I don't like it?

Sure, I could just walk out but, I don't want to have to do that.

🤔

If it was just for a day sure why not. You'll get blessed for it ;)

@DeluxedEdition Sure. Really just trying to meet other humans who actually care about other people. Don't see a better way to do this than to go where people are working for free. I also want to do the volunteer thing, just not for 8 hours.

If you don’t like it, finish your shift and just don’t go back next time

My son was volunteering at a food bank ever Saturday when he was 15&16 and he started at 8am and finished at 3pm. It was a long day but he enjoyed it

@iamnikki 🤔well are giving up your free time generously you will not know if you like it if you do not give it a try . if it works out that way after the eight hours and it is not for you fair enough you need too give it a chance first
My work actually gives us 8 hours of paid time to go do volunteer work. The catch is we have to volunteer during our shift. There aren't many night shift volunteer opportunities :s

Have someone call you with a reason you have to leave if you're not feeling the eight hour shift.

@SooperSarah most companies are pretty laid back with the rules

@SooperSarah many charities do mailers which you could do at home
@MarineBob i might have to look into something like that. It'd be perfect
Sounds like a great initiative to help others.
Try it out, get a feel for it. You can stand anything for one day.

Yes. I have done it a number of times, but I was confident I would be okay doing it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Seems like it would be exhausting to do it that many hours if you have a job too
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
That's a long shift for volunteer. But if you like it, it would probably go by quickly and you would feel like you have really done something.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn I feel 8 hours is also a long time for me to be surrounded by strangers. Typically, if you don't like someone, you go away. Can't really do that if you signed up for something for 8 hours.
I've emailed them and asked if I can do something shorter. If not, I won't do it. I know myself well enough.
I told myself I would never do another dinner outing with people that I haven't met prior. I did one again and was quickly reminded why I said I wouldn't.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@iamnikki I think 4 hours would be a better shift.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn I've sought another organization. They have a 4 hour mid Saturdays. Perfect.

I would and I have, more than 8 hours depending upon the need
