Who is a no mad at heart like me?

I was born in Seoul and taught to hate Japan at school.
First foreign country I visited and lived was Japan and I fell in love with their food, politeness of people.❤️
Hong Kong was great in 80’s, I lived there for 1 year.

UK- my first culture shock and hurt a lot from British people.
Food is boring, weather is horrible and I survived there for 15 years and left for good.
People used to ask me— Do you have chocolate in your country? It was 90’s.

I lived in Germany for 3 years and fell in love with their food, warm hearted people.
They are very polite and honest. ❤️
They treated me as a human being, after hell experience in the UK, Germany was heaven for me.
Germans were kind and friendly even though I didn’t speak German.

Now I’m living in America for 9 years.
America was my dream place when I was young and I learned English because of music and films.
So far so good but I want to explore other country soon.
When I imagine with picture image, my dreams come true easily.
I don’t feel I belong to a certain country, I lost Korean passport 35 years ago so I always feel I’m earthling.
I want to make friends who feels like me.

I’m here to connect with people globally and get to know their humor and their fun interests and good taste of music.
After all I learned English through music and film from young, mostly self taught first.

Here I'm born with the heart of a wanderlust . I want to taste and see different cultures in the world and It is a beautiful thing and it is one of God's gift . There is beauty in the genuine origin of each culture and race, it's the story of sweat and blood that we are able to enjoy the comfort and pleasure of today.

Very cool. I worked part time for an American bureau of Nippon TV for 17 years. Almost all were very nice and polite.

I have a friend who is a Chinaman originally from Taiwan. He admits it's a little ingrained in him to look down on Koreans. But he's never mean about it.

When his family moved out of his childhood home in Long Island near Queens they rented it to a Korean woman who eventually turned it into a brothel 😁😂😁😂

He was horrified beyond belief. Eventually they moved out and he had to get rid of 1000+ jars of Kimchee 😂😁😱

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! 😂

@Eyeinthesky my friend is a funny bastard. He looks at the world as his ant farm. He operates on stereotypes but, taken right, is highly amusing.

One time we had a short event in midtown. I drove in and brought my dog. That area is considered Koreatown. He asked if I was bringing in Thanksgiving dinner😋
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Slade I read Chinese also ate dog🥺. But it's getting better now that people don't like old custom anymore. I hear that joke often about asians, it happened a lot in the past but not common now.🙂
Slade · 56-60, M
@Eyeinthesky it's cats with the Chinese. Again, this guy was in Chinatown and an off the boater from the hinterlands of China offered him a box of cats. He wanted to knock his head off but ended up buying them and bringing them to a shelter

thats really amazing 😻
lucky you are ,i love travelling too ,
RileyLandS · 41-45, M
you have a great mindset and i'm sure you'll be happy wherever you move. i LOVE your attitude!!!
I like your reference to culture shock. I experienced it in 1970 when as a young G.I. I arrived in South Korea. I came away with two mental impressions: Yes, the land of the Morning Calm and the Land of Heartbreak. I returned in 1974 doing a second tour of duty there. An experience that will always be a part of me.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@soar2newhighs thank you for your service 😊. It’s no more the land of morning calm for long time. It’s always changing so quickly and chaotic, when I got back after 16 years, even some Korean alphabet changed and people teased me as a North Korean spy because I used the old style alphabet. 🤣
@Eyeinthesky Returning to the air base one morning, I was passing a scene I’ll not forget: to my left, a steep hill with many trees. It was very early, the sun was slightly over the top of the hill, and it’s rays were penetrating the gentle light mist that hugged the trees. To me that symbolized “ morning calm”.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@soar2newhighs that sounds like peaceful and sweet moments. I grew up in Seoul and I didn’t get a chance to see other country province when young. But now many places look like city itself there now.
oldercanuck1 · 70-79, M
good for you glad you found your place to stay and enjoy ,,,
Each country has its wonderful places and sights when you leave the place you were raised. I grew up in NYC. I was lucky to see many parts of the U.S. that I was and still am in awe of.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@soar2newhighs I’ll check deadwood next time on HBO. My husband said he saw it while browsing. 🙂
@Eyeinthesky This is it’s main Character. It’s Al Swearengin, a real
Person portrayed by Ian Mc Shane.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@soar2newhighs got it. Haven’t seen that actor for ages. Wow time flies…..

What a fascinating life and perspective, living in so many different cultures. Do you sometimes feel lonely moving away from people you get to know? Which music do you like best?
Docdon23 · M
@Eyeinthesky Is that American music? So even with your Asian background you prefer American music?? Is it that popular in Asia? Interesting. I am in the US, and honestly could not tell you much about Asian music...Europe yes. Interesting!! Do you always find good jobs everywhere you go? What about relationships--do you go with someone or start new ones...or go solo...
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Docdon23 luckily we had American forces network- radio and tv. I taught myself English watching 70’-80’s sitcom and films. I was a freak at school so everyone knew I was into English and when they hear Hotel California they think about me, I was on and on about them a lot, I was only 14.
In Korea everybody wants to look like elite so speaking English is a must skill.
Majority people still can’t speak English thou.
Docdon23 · M
@Eyeinthesky I love that song!! Singing it now! I love rock from 1960s to 80s...interesting that American culture is so admired...too bad few in the US have much interest in music and culture from other places, although ours is a kind of mix of lots of cultures...I also love classical music, Broadway tunes, and some jazz...
scorpiolovedeep · 51-55, M
Nice thoughts portrayed here.

Like you , I have been to a few countries
Learnt different cultures and traditions.

It takes time but we all with blend in our own way , with different people.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@scorpiolovedeep That’s very true! To me body language with understanding and accepting each other is real communication between people. Thank you💚🤗
scorpiolovedeep · 51-55, M
Yes , but there are certain people who cannot control their tongue or aggressive behaviour towards you (being from a foreign nation) and this thing really annoys me.

@Eyeinthesky
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@scorpiolovedeep It wasn’t easy for me because I was young and it was my first western culture experience. I had to contemplate a lot when young and it helped me to understand human nature more personally. More importantly I became more positive instead of bitter about past, I’m grateful for the guidance I felt from within. 🍀💚

This has to be one of the best posts, that I ever read here. I literally felt every word and am so inspired and heart touched! 🙂🌺

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
you do sound like a wanderer. Why do you move so much?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Eyeinthesky We lived in Iceland for 2 years, I have some images in one of my albums. We have a time share on the Costa de Soleil, aka S Spain, in Marbella. We are going on a cruise this summer from Istanbul to Venice with several stops in the Greek Isles. My daughter and I were in Japan the November before covid. She gave a talk in Kyoto, and I went as her plus one!
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@samueltyler2 How exciting! My husband and I also want to go on Mediterranean cruise in the future...That is so nice that you were able to go with your daughter to Japan...
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Eyeinthesky We were not in Japan that long, and she had to do her presentation one day, but it was one of those trips on my "Bucket List." It was an awesome experience, particularly Hiroshima.

from the bullet train in Japan:

I think this is great. A citizen of the World rather than a country. You have unique perspectives because they're not confined to one country or culture.

Yes, I consider myself a nomad at heart. I can travel, anywhere at any time. It can be fun and invigorating
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@SW-User That’s why you are my friend!😁
Convivial · 26-30, F
The world has so much to offer ... No one country has it right, travel shows we all have much to learn from each other...

I lived and traveled in a van with my son for 10 months! I can’t wait to get back out there full time!
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@SW-User Hope you can do that with your son soon.
pedrohedgerow · 61-69, M
My apologies for the experience you had in the uk,it puts us to shame.Good Bless.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@pedrohedgerow You are nice and you don’t have to apologize. You know what is funny? I got that same arrogance and snobbish attitude after 3 years living there and using strong big voice, people were ok with me. I thought what’s up with that?
When I act humble, they just look down on me so in the end I had to leave, I didn’t want to live like stuck up there for the sake of my survival.
pedrohedgerow · 61-69, M
@Eyeinthesky I understand sis.I also refuse to conform to what is required to be left in peace, and always will.

Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Ferric67 that’s a lot of money.
@Ferric67 dang how you lose that much money?
Ferric67 · M
@akshamaeh7331 I did an agreesive market investment, it's all good though I'll use it as a tax loss. Funny thing about it too is that it's technically far from over (in other words, you wait long enough it should very well rebound...and to a much higher high).
