I see it as people valuing others who are truthful to them.. You know where you stand with people who tell you exactly what they think about you.. If it is negative then you can start a conversation if you think they are wrong about you.. In the long run it leads to better relationships.. Yeah some relationships end, but in truth they where not relationships of genuine connection, it was all fake and shallow anyway..

Someone who is blunt is instantly most likely honest keeping you from guessing.

I think everyone who grows up and stops being a child learns to use a filter when talking to people. It's a form of being considerate. To show we don't want the other person feeling to uncomfortable talking to a new person or broaching a new potentially triggering subject.
From there... We say more unhinged things to find each others lines and grow more comfortable as those lines are found. We become more genuine people over time to each other.
That's my thought on the situation. Empaths or introverts are just words to describe where these comfort levels may be. I don't use one, I have lines of demarcation. Those are morals or trigger subjects. Those are situations Id like to or not to be in. I try be upfront about those and say "I struggle in large groups to find something to say." or "It makes me sad to think about, but I wouldn't avoid talking about it." They're to put my feelings into mpre concrete rules the other person can navigate, much like I do with them. "Im sorry. Does that make you uncomfortable?" is my check if the vibe feels off.
So, imo, a skill but not one worth burdening with labels. They feel too generalized and limiting to me.

@twistedrope Thanks for your thought. I expect people to have different perspectives or even contradict me and I respect them for it. You mentioned morals, well that's a simpler way than stereotyping which is much better.

I can relate to this. Just because someone doesn't say everything they think doesn't mean they're fake. Sometimes they're just trying to be kind and respectful.

I don't know if blunt is the right word, honest works. No need to hit someone over the head about it!

There are some people that like to label people. It makes them seem superior in their mind.
Nobody gets the whole unfiltered genuine caring me unless they know me.
Or, if they prod me, they can have my unfiltered dark side.
But I agree with you. We’re all unique and I try to be as accepting as I can of all people unless they give me a reason not to.
