Is it cheap, do I have to wash the dishes...high dollar stuff?

CleverGirl · 26-30, FNew
Sounds better than a cockroach sandwich.

Maybe if it was Charlene Tilton's meat I'd take a bite
BlueVeins · 26-30
I'll try anything once. 🤷
Nightwings · F
@BlueVeins I completely understand. I've seen a couple videos and heard some stuff. I don't know the in-depth process but I realize that the animals' conditions and treatment is absolutely terrible. It saddens me. I think a big problem is the fast-food industry, since meat is consumed that way in far too high amounts, and greedy corporations are of course greedy. It's easier to eat a large plate of chicken nuggets than filling your place with pan-seared chicken and nothing else on it.
Nightwings · F
@BlueVeins Oh I forgot to mention that the connection I was making was that high demand probably contribute to the poor conditions of the animals, since they must be mass-farmed for the fastfood industry, and since money talks it's likely that money is the main thing in the way of better regulations.
BlueVeins · 26-30
@Nightwings It's a lot of things. Frankly the fact that animals can't advocate for themselves makes it basically inevitable that humans will abuse them if we insist on using them, regardless of the economic and political systems we live under. You can't really have a power imbalance where one party is completely at the other's mercy, without expecting it to become exploitative.

That said, the idea of cultivating animals to be killed is pretty ghoulish in itself, regardless of how the animals are treated in the meantime. No animal, if it could speak to us, would ever consent to an existence like that. If viewed from the animals' POV, the whole affair would make us humans look worse than the worst regimes ever to grace this Earth.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
If it were wholly synthesised in a lab, it would not be "human" in any biological sense, so I cannot think of any substantial ethical objection. But I have been successfully deriving most of my nutrition from plant sources for over two decades. I can't imagine wanting to pay a lot more for complicated food that is probably less nutritious and less delicious.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
No.
I'm vegetarian anyway.
We are all animals and all related to a single tree of life. It's just a matter of where one divides and places certain values. I wouldn't be opposed to such a thing if it was treated in a certain manner. I mean I wouldn't be opposed to others if they did. I'm not so sure I would be able to bring myself to do that.

How about you?
Nightwings · F
@froggtongue I would if the setting was entirely appropriate. My reason is a blend of morbid curiosity and a childish pleasure that arrives from doing things which freaks out normal (boring) people. =b
@Nightwings I love that reason. 😊
I hope the ones that wanna try have heard of Prion diseases

@Magicianzini Veganism is about preventing the exploitation and abuse of animals. What animal is being exploited in this hypothetical?
@BlueVeins I would say "wow" .. but I already knew, hence my comment above.
hazegloom · M
just thinking about that makes me wanna puke tbh
Oh, Hellz no!

The NY Times did publish an article about cannabalism back in 2022. Insane 😜

No I'm not one of these commies you see on here.
@Munumbis It could be communistic if everybody got a fair share. It could be capitalistic of choice humans were higher prized. Say like Kobe Coby.

No fucking way
i might have already in a roundabout way...although not ethically but we did have a serial killer who would feed his victims to his pigs on his farm..."willie" pickton....look him up 😬
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@beermeplease I read a very detailed article and it said that nasty pig farm was actually hosting parties inviting CEO’s and other high-ups there and it was a blackmail operation. They would get them liquored up and then get them involved in things and take photos.
Quimliqer · 70-79, MVIP
Not a chance!!

@Chris00987 I think one of the objections is when it's allowed that some might develop a strong desire for the taste. Keeping society safe is more important than someone getting to eat their preferred meat choice. We know that even with rules in place it sometimes even if rarely happens where a person will kill others to eat them. If cannibalism is allowed then how many more would go on killing sprees just for their love of the taste as opposed to doing so from just a basic survival point of view?
