You may have to work with them. If you do keep the conversation factual and limited.

Ignore them... They only ever have the power you give them...

If you don't provide anything they find of use, they will move on anyway. They need an audience or a resource.

Refrain from being either.

If you don't wanna cut contact, cut access to the things that you don't need third party opinion on. It's less noise for you.

Limit your time with them.
Try not to engage in any arguing.
Ignore their antics as much as it's possible for you to do.
Answer directly with one or two words.
Don't agree to anything you don't want to do.
Stay calm, cool, and collected they're waiting for a response.
If they find they can't get that response they need from you they will go out to other people

Walk away and never engage them

Disengage indefinitely with them

Make them repeat the hateful stuff they in public. Most are cowards and hide behind "hit and run" half truths.
