Wow! So glad someone DID stop...this is a danger for mailboxes at the edge of a road and the ditch, esp. as we age and might be less stable on our feet.

Sounds as though she is very seriously injured, so I hope she heals quickly and fully.

At least a few "Good Samaritans" out there.

Going by there every day is definitely a good idea. You can't rely on good Samaritans to be there on time. If she is old enough to begin tripping, you will also want to remove the rugs inside her house, make sure there are no stairs she HAS to go up to get to bed, and for added safety, be sure she has one of those buttons she can push if she falls in the house and can't get up.

I'm glad somebody helped her. We old folks need a hand more often than some people think.
