If every company has to get their taxes done every year, how come we can't just check if they're paying men and women equally for equal work?

Does anybody here understand how taxes work? It seems to me like the solution for the wage gap is right in front of us but we just don't want to use it.

You can't fix an imaginary problem.

Equal pay for equal work has been a long standing policy so a lady plumber and a gentleman plumber with identical work records would get paid the same. However a man working retail would not make as much money as a woman plumber.
what wage Gap? its illegal on Oz
if women want the same pay they should work as many hours..

@cantbetaymed: I would like to make identity politics illegal too and the gender wage gap nonsense is nothing but identity politics.

@hippyjoe1955: I never said that everybody should make the same amount of money. The whole point is equal pay for equal work.

@cantbetaymed: Define equal work? I was on a site yesterday where a heavy flange had to be moved upstairs by hand. There were 3 people on the crew two young men and a young woman. They decided to run a pole through the flange so two of them could carry it up the stairs. The young woman couldn't pick up one end of the pole so the men set the pole on their shoulders and walked upstairs with the flange. Should the woman earn as much money as the men since she can not physically do the same job the men can do.
I don't think after a certain point people care to look at that.

Still I'm actually noy sure how they even calculate the wage pay gap thing.
