Would you ever have joined the police service?

Here in Ireland they are called the Garda.
Once upon a time, yes. And proud to have served my community with the integrity and respect my father did.

Good question.

The "Good Cop - Bad Cop" is less about interrogation techniques as it is about the police themselves. Whether we fear them or embrace them. My general impression is that police is a subculture, and once you become a police officer you become a member of that sub-culture.

We once attended a community awards ceremony and dinner as guest of one of the award recipients and were seated at a dinner table with police officers and their spouses. No one in uniform, but everyone with a name plate at the table identifying their organizations and who they represented. Like we were "Guest of ___" and everyone else were "Officer --- of the --- Police Department". In the two+ hours of chit-chat with the officers and spouses, it became pretty apparent that they lived isolated lives as families.

Where is there guns at

Nope. I've read two murder mystery novels by an Irish author, Tan French, and she portrayed the Garda as not well trusted by the people.

However, I did once try to join the army in the United States, when I was 19. My father discouraged me.

No way.

I'd be too stoned to call people 'sir' without giggling.

I think I'm too short to be a police officer 🥺

@SunshineGirl is there a height requirement?
