Do you buy bottled water?

Is it right that Nestle and big companies continue to bottle water in California where there has been a drought for 6 years?
Ynotisay · M
Not only are they bottling from a Natl. Forest stream in the San Bernardino Mountains, and drying it up, but they've been ILLEGALLY bottling for like 30 years. Their permit was never renewed.

Their former CEO also said that water should not be a right.

FUCK Nestle. (And fuck the NFS for allowing it to happen). I haven't bought a Nestle product in a few years and won't until they get out of those mountains.

Dr. Dean Burke of the American cancer society states that fluoride which is added to city water supplies is public murder on a grand scale. While some bottled water is simply city water in a bottle others are spring water. You just have to do your research.

Except Burk was not of the American Cancer Society and his work has been refuted by over 50 studies from around the world.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
yep.. no matter the 'implications' and politics i will not ingest city water and what goes through the plumbing.

it's atrocious.

most i know who've drank the tap water in my city have bladder cancer and pancreatic.

my wife quit drinking the fountain water at work now her pains in her femur are gone. (she has cancer there, spread from the spot in her lung)

i get deer park.. even my fish can live in it. if they can exist in the sludge then i reckon so can i and such.
I am sorry to hear anout your medical problems. That sure suck.

There are many other water resources outside of California. Why dont they bring it in from there?

@TwinklelilStar: contracting! it's evil! a very complex nuisance for us only.

things that are provisioned and in the ways that they are articulated make no sense when it comes to utility and function.

it's a mastermind pit of WTF who's in charge!!! the bribes?

long story shorter, we can't afford more housing due to constraints on the underground infrastructure, say our plumbing, sewage and water so to speak but the council keeps bringing in the contractors and now we're hip deep in political corruption, crime and the inability to keep our water supply, the sewage out of people's homes along with all the code violations!

yep, the people who pay for this are.. PAYING for it dearly.

$$$ matters. to hell with what we NEED.

Why wouldn't it be?

@Booyeah: Water purification? As in De-Sal? Well, there's a couple that have come online in CA and more in the works. But desal has huge limitations. It's super expensive to pump water in and put the brine back (which poses environmental concerns) and the areas around the pumps are hazardous for marine life. But the big one is that there are limits in terms of who can access the water. It can only serve areas near the coast so it's not an answer to Central CA ag needs.

As a Southern Californian I'd say this all comes down to one thing and that's drought. If it wasn't happening then desal and the rulings surrounding the Delta smelt would be a non-issue.
Booyeah · 41-45, M
@Ynotisay: Marine life hazard is an emotional non-issue. And since the majority population lives on the coast, you're removing the drain on natural water sources that would otherwise go to agriculture.
Ynotisay · M
@Booyeah: An emotional non-issue? Outside of the brine, the intake hoses vacuum up the base layer of the marine food chain. I'm sure you know why that's problematic.
Think it's good to remember that CA ag takes between 60% and 80% of the state's water depending on who you believe and most all of Central CA's water comes from reservoirs and groundwater. That's obviously depleting. In SoCal most of our water is either local or from the Colorado River.
Desal is a last ditch effort. It's crazy expensive and a very risky business to be in. That's not because of the state. That's because of the market and nature.
It may not be right- or ethical. But it is business and they are owned by Coke. Coke will keep bottling it as long as there is a demand for it.
Being socially responsible is key in being competative these days . Consumers will start buying alternative products if they are aware of the damage and the price is the same.

I don't need to because the tab water is so clean that you can drink it, no problem at all and it also taste better then bottled water in my opinion as well!
Aidan · 26-30
Yeah I buy it only because tap water taste like chlorine but they should let Cali keep its water
I don't buy bottled water. I buy wet bottles. There's a difference.
