Tell me about a time where you gave or sacrificed something and received something else back 10-fold as a result.

5 years ago at work we were extraordinarily busy and for two months I did a lot of overtime and worked through my lunch hours without complaining because I was the only support staff at the time. He (my boss) gave me a $10,000 bonus for that
@Jenny1234 yes! That’s awesome!!!

A bank once mistakenly paid me out a second time on a single, substantial money order from overseas. They didn't correct it and I was tempted to say nothing but after a few weeks I informed them of the error, afraid that it would catch up with me later.

My honesty had its reward: They responded that they didn't make that kind of mistake and unless I had evidence to the contrary I should close my files on the matter. I did just that. I sometimes wish I could figure out how it happened, for potential future use :).
@Really wow that’s a happy accident! Honesty really is the best policy! Hope you bought yourself something nice.

@DecafD I bought a VW 412. Not new, but recent and very nice. A switch from my succession of beetles !
@Really very cool!

I paid for child’s education in a third world country upto college. This was about 10 years ago.
I sent her to the best school in her area.
Didn’t want anything in return.
She graduated recently
@Carlisle aww yay! She made it and all the money was worth it. How many people can honestly say that they’ve significantly changed the trajectory of someone’s life? Someone they’ve never even met? Good for you!!

@DecafD 🤗 ☺️

i doubt it was ten fold - but I sacrificed a lot just to do a good job...and the people i work with were very honourable about rewarding and looking after me.
@ButterRobot yeah- let’s go ahead and say it’s 10-fold bc there are lots of ppl that do a good job and make sacrifices and their employers and coworkers abuse that kindness. That or they just expect you to do it every time for the same pay and treatment. It’s nice that you’re surrounded by people that recognize and care about you in the workplace. This is rare - a lot of environments these days are competitive and cutthroat.

@DecafD yeah..i often wonder how I got so lucky.

It was forgiveness with which I was blessed. I didn't think I was capable of it, but it is a VERY wonderful feeling...and I feel as though my spirit is now released from some type of bondage.

I was very angry with one of my neighbors, who has been very unkind. But once I found out she was hungry, I felt the anger melt away. I was able to get some people from my church to help me transport food, and we have now delivered food to at least six neighbors.
@4meAndyou wow good answer! I think we all take forgiveness for granted and even I struggle with this. It really does put things into perspective when you really understand the struggles of another and why they act the way they do. Glad you were able to forgive and help. I’m sure your neighbor is eternally grateful for what you’ve done.

@DecafD 🤭 I think that would be asking a bit much, because I am quite sure she will knife me in the back again, but this time, I understand that she probably has dementia, and drives everyone nuts. It's not just me. 🙄 But it was a revelation that I could drop my own negative feelings that quickly.
@4meAndyou yeah people with dementia are moody, trying to piece together the fragments of their memories and getting constantly frustrated that they can’t recall or piece together things as they did before. Well…at least you’ve turned your cheek as they say. It’s always a good thing when you allow yourself to no longer let other people control how you feel. It’s a lot of energy to spend being upset with someone, while they’re sleeping like a baby not thinking of you at all.

@Mrnoone do you have a particular story or experience that was most memorable to you about it?

@Mrnoone hahhaa I wasn’t expecting the story to start with a bag of weed, but that’s pretty awesome! Good friends are hard to find.

I do a lot of volunteer work in the community, and when my daughter's home was ruined by a hurricane, the community responded amazingly, helping her clean up and rebuild.
@exexec that’s amazing! You helped the community and when your family needed help, the community came back to you. That’s lovely 😊

Every dime I have given to the Kingdom or Church, I have received 10fold.
@Iwillwait as it should be. Give because you can and not because you expect.
Iwillwait · M
@DecafD I started giving when I was unemployed, broke and in transitional housing. I found $20.00 and Tithed from that, and from that moment on, the Lord has been kicking open doors and blessing me beyond measure. I am so eternally grateful.
@Iwillwait yes, I truly believe this. Your input is directly correlated to your outcome in this life. If you show the world some kindness, then kindness will make its way back to you and so on and so forth with the other things you choose to give.

Yes, I gave up 1961 to 1967 to pull three tours of Vietnam, and received over 5 decades of self pride in exchange.
