I'm a bad person to answer cause I never went and got a bunch of scars that show that lol. But make sure nothing is wrong with your range of motion if it's deep that can be bad.
GO! I am not trying to scare you by any means, but by the headlines lately, there have been bad bacteria in the water and people have found themselves dead within an hour. So just to be safe and not sorry, please go have that looked at. This was a flesh eating type thing from the water and these people died before they had a chance to get help.

Better be careful with cuts in water, that’s how some cases of flesh-eating infections gets started...watch it really careful.

Best to get it checked at the ER. You can negotiate whether to get the stitches there, but it should be thoroughly cleaned and antibiotics may be indicated.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
This is why I don’t surf.
But you’d know if you need stitches. But coral has some nasty bacteria so be sure to clean out your wound as best as you can.

Take a pic and post it
@Keepitsimple It's a bit too far up my leg for that. 😂
Where on the leg is the cut??
@Texasgurl On my thigh area.
Go to the ER...
They can triage @lauriethecolourful

If you have a deep gash and haven't had a ternus shot lately, you should go to an urgent care clinic somewhere to get one! While you're there, see if stitches are recommended or if butterfly bandages will work.

If the cut is deep and won't stop bleeding/close up after about 30 minutes, it's time to see a doctor.
Shayla · F
If you choose not to get it checked out, at least clean it really really well and keep it freshly bandaged.
Mordi · 31-35, M
If it doesn't stop bleeding profusely, you need stitches. You need blood to live. 🤷🏻♂️
@Mordi It did take a while for the bleeding to stop, but it did.
Mordi · 31-35, M
Disinfect it and cover it up.

And you are allowed to use the internet -
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Is the wound shallow?
@CountScrofula It's deep enough, but I've never had mi h experience with cuts. I'd probably think a really superficial wound was deep. 😂
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@lauriethecolourful If it's more than a quarter-inch deep it probably needs stitches, and if it's jagged you may need them anyways. :\
HEre's a handy list for stitches:
Get stitches if:
The cut is deeper than a quarter of an inch.
The cut was made by a dirty or rusty object and/or there is a risk of infection.
Fat, muscle, bone, or other deep body structures are visible due to the wound.
The cut is over a joint, especially if the edges open when you move the joint or if opening the wound shows muscle, bone, or joint structures.
The injury is deep and on your hand or finger.
You have cosmetic concerns about the wound (i.e. it is on the face or area you don’t want to have a scar).
After 15 minutes of pressure, the cut is still bleeding.

Proper stitching can prevent permanent scarring.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@ImKelsey Good point.
stc615 · M
If you wait too long they won’t be able to stitch it at all
whateverhappens · 26-30, F
You should get it checked still,it's the sea ,filled with many sicknesses
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
If it's gapped open id say you do
Pfuzylogic · M
If there is bruising I would consider it.
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
If you can't get it to stop bleeding..you are going to need stitches.
hlpflwthat · M
Rinse it thoroughly with peroxide and tape it shut. If it stops bleeding you're golden.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@hlpflwthat peroxide can be bad for deep cuts. It inhibits the clotting.
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
I'd go to doctor anyways with all the flesh eating bacteria these days
