Guys need to be complimented more

CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
This speaks volumes about how men are raised in the U.S. I have a lot of empathy for men. Many people, men and women, are starved for love, even in relationships. Yes, it's sad.
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
@Ashly I think both sexes have their own issues. But yes, I agree.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@CoffeeFirst of course of they say anything they're told to "man up"

Sadly it’s probably true. We are expected to initiate and expect to be dismissed, often quite rudely.

I’m very lucky and grateful that I met the woman I did.

True. I only compliment them when I mean it.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
I'm a guy and tbh I'm used to never being complimented.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Actually true
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
And that's also the reason why they aren't complimented. A compliment is just a way to express that you like something about them, they don't mean "I want to date you" or "I want to have sex with you".

Yeah what ever 😌

95% of men never get any female attention. They end up in relationships with the only woman they ever meet in life that will be with them. There’s no happiness for men anywhere.
eventtemple123 · 22-25, M
Thank you so much for sharing this 😊! In all honesty, I have received so little that I am skeptical whenever someone is nice to me.

That is actually an extremely insightful comment. Guys do not get positive compliments in general.
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
Guy here;
Yes, there is a certain amount of truth in this.
Most of the compliments I've gotten from women tend to be difficult to respond to: (an example) I'm wearing a sweater, woman says "I like your sweater", how do i respond to that? its not like I made the sweater, heck I didn't even buy it (it was a gift)
I've gotten significantly more compliments from men than from women; the vast majority have been along the lines of "great hat"

Sadly I'd say that it can be even worse than that at times.
I'd say it can be as simple as just basic attention without prerequisite or obligatory need. There are some men out there that would genuinely struggle to remember the last time a woman sought after him simply for the pleasure of his company. Those guys would feel predominantly like a convenience rather than an individual.
popmol · 22-25, M
i only received one genuine compliment i still think about, it was 3 summers ago!
OctoberEyes · 26-30, M
It’s something guys need to get better at between each other - build their friends up.

I compliment my guy friends all the time; if they’re looking good, I let them know. If they’ve made an effort or have been working out, build them up. Women are great at these complimentary gestures between each other, but a lot of guys don’t feel comfortable doing that.
tj78610 · 51-55, M
I feel sad saying this, but its 100% true.

I even told my wife this. Understand I received more positive comments from random people than her (I'm a muscular guy - especially my calves). Her response to me later was "I dont want to do that because I know you want me to". Yep, Im selfish apparently.
Iwantyourhotwife · 22-25
@tj78610 your wife is selfish and you deserve better man
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
Not me. Especially the older I get. I always felt they was just being Nice and friendly. And if they were interested they needed to step it up. The nice and friendly. Also guys got accused of not seeing who is actually interested in them.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
I don't have enough fingers to count the years, especially since I am physically different
exexec · 61-69, C
I think I get more compliments than I deserve, but I appreciate all of them.
Katie01 · F
Most guys don't deserve it though
popmol · 22-25, M

I think society is geared towards tearing most people a new anus, especially if you don't fit into the cool person stereotype
Renaci · 36-40
I can't say anything for other people but def works for me. But I grew up isolated a looooot due to medical stuff so yeah I'm starved.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
@Renaci
