WHAT possesses people to hoard TP every time there is another crisis?

There must be some psychological rationale behind it.

Surely someone did a case study about this and knows the answer.

You would think it would be cases of water, maybe cans of food, coffee, cigarettes, or just you know, something that is important and hard to replace.

But they hoard up on TP?

This is just w3ird.

People will be snapping up water and groceries too

@Theophrastus Even the ghost of Chris Farley is panicking!!!

During lockdown, some people even used a sharp tool to pry open my works large toilet paper dispensers and steal the paper.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@meggie I am sorry to hear that. Did you or any of your employees get hurt?

I was just at the market and there was almost no toilet paper or paper towels. 🙄

Toilet Paper Crisis II lasted less than 3 days.
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
Yep. Common sense has died an ugly death.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
So that is our society's emergency response to disasters these days "buy more toilet paper!!"
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@soar2newhighs Toilette paper doesn't come from abroad
@JimboSaturn Yet. Wait till we have elite international toilet papers imported from around the world like we have it with bottled water now. It's coming. Someone will brag they only wipe their butt with toilet paper made in Nepal by traditional craftsmen.
@JimboSaturn Tell that to the people in hurricane ravaged states. Thank you.
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
Anywho, the strike has been called off.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@ineedadrink How would you like a 62% raise?
gregloa · 61-69, M
@Musicman over six years that’s like going from 12 dollars to 19.50 over six years. It’s decent. Not out of this world though. My job over eleven years has increased my pay 175%.
gregloa · 61-69, M
@gregloa I did have to level up and be promoted
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Buy American
oldguy73 · 70-79, M
because during covid, they closed up lots of factories here making it, people think that is what will happen because of strike, people don't think
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Good to know people hoard rather than help out people hit by a hurricane and lost everything.
UndeadSona · F
It's hilarious honestly people don't even consider where anything comes from
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
They had to let Lucky Luciano out of prison to keep the ports running pre world war II.
Of course they will. If you were in their situation wouldn’t you?
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
As much as they bought during covid, they should still have some🙄
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I'll just chill right here with my bidet.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I know during storms the first things to go off the shelves are water, bread, milk and diapers. I'm not sure what the fascination with toilet paper is. 🤷‍♂
Musicman · 61-69, M
Update: The Strike is over! The dock workers got a 62% raise to be paid out over the next six years. So now everyone can return the toilet paper and get a refund.
