@bookerdana Indeed. I always respected the fact that although Rockwell preferred to depict the more positive scenes of our country, it wasn’t because he was unaware of the realities. You’re probably familiar with this one, too:"The Problem We All Live With" was its title.
@bijouxbroussard Most of his art that I've seen was from my car insurance company though I've seen this one....Gorge Lucas and Steven Spielberg are both huge fans.
I've read he had to see something in front of him topaint it ,once having a locomotive in his back yard..this may be a myth🤷♂ thank again
@bookerdana There’s truth in that. I saw a documentary about him, it interviewed some of the people who had modeled for him as children and teens. One man had been the face of a series Rockwell did on a young soldier during WWII.
Thank you for posting this. I was unaware of Robert Reich's friendship with Mickey Schwerner. Reich makes a powerful and important point about the need to stand up to bullies and protect one another from them.
I was also unaware that Paul Simon was friends with Andrew Goodman and that "He Was My Brother" was written in Goodman's memory. I always thought it was a beautiful, poignant song. Knowing that it's about his real-life friend makes it even more poignant to me.
