@ChiefJustWalks I think your state has "Fry's", which is owned by Kroger. Well I forget the corporate structure but anyways -

I would imagine Fry's often has deals like "buy two twelve packs of soda, get two free" if it is anything like Kroger/King Sooper.

Might need a shoppers card but that is instant and free.

@hunkalove Interesting. Yeah I think Kroger has several brands, not sure which of them are grocery or other business.

@hunkalove I worked for them some years ago and walked off the shift one night. Almost every day they had this laundry list of things I wasn't doing right.

@HoochieTheClown It's probably an average on all foods. some brands or local market stuff probably barely went up. hell they might not have had a big enough sample. who knows

@UndeadSona I imagine they did something to make the numbers look, not as bad.

I do know some of the things I buy have doubled since 2019.

Thing is, they are chomping at the bit to justify jacking up stuff.
People talk about egg prices and it seems silly but eggs are used in a lot of other processed foods. So guess what that would do to those prices.

I think this whole "bird flu" thing is complete BS.

@UndeadSona I've been seeing them use that bogo strategy to creep prices up. It's a psychological trick to get people to buy more at the moment because it's on sale while preparing them for the newer higher prices when the sale ends

@UndeadSona that's the eventual outcome, whether you choose to stop now or when it just becomes unaffordable. Stopping early is better though. These companies are going to charge as much as the market will allow. When things stop selling prices will stop rising.

The downside is that when prices stop rising, these companies still have to deliver ever growing profit to shareholders which will lead to job cuts to reduce costs. At the end of the day, the working person is getting screwed one way or another.

@UndeadSona meh, I'm more of a Pepsi person and always have been. Between those two at least. Realistically I guess you'd say I'm a cheap store brand person because those name brands prices be crazy most of the time. Also, I can get things like dark cherry and green apple from the cheap store brand.

@SnickersDOM In the case of most sodas is actually the corn industry subsidies. Corn gets so many subsidies that actual sugar cane sugar has been supplanted with corn.
