A Thank You for Giving Your All

[image/video - please log in to see this content]

There's not much enjoyment on this day, no picnic here.. I just got back from repaying my respects to the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice..... I was lucky to come back.. 59,000 lost in my war, but I didn't forget..

Most did.... Enjoy your picnic

P.S. Funny SW doesn't even have a group for Memorial Day.....

@KingofBones1 thank you for your service, brings tears to my eyes the disregard and disrespect at the hands of civilians that have no f*cking idea of serving something bigger than yourself... for the greater good of society, keeping the peace so that they can act like that. My heartfelt thanks for your service... thank you!

@Kstrong I'd do it all again just because of those like you. And I promise. I will look in. U have my word. Thank you and God bless you and your family

Thank you for serving the country

We remember thise that have not come home or died from what they faced when serving, PTSD, carcinogens, radiation, demons from battle... and the families that supported and served from the home front

As it is said, "All Gave Some, Some Gave All."

WW2 killed about 80 million people of ALL nationalities and not just in the armed forces. We can be unspeakably sad for all of that but it's history and there's damn-all we can do about it; except nurture our desire for peace over conflict at almost any price.

All gave some, some have all.

I played taps yesterday at 3PM.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Kstrong it was just a little thing. I had hoped to do it at a military cemetery, but the local community me did not cooperate in the taps across America event.
Kstrong · 56-60, F
@samueltyler2 all those that served deserve Taps played

@Kstrong Memorial Day was established to honor those who died in defense of the country, Veterans Day is for all veterans, living and dead.

@bookerdana IF any number of things had ever (or never) happened, any number of things might or might not have "probably" resulted. So what? We deal with the world as it is, not as what we imagine it might have been "IF".

BTW< as dancingtongue remarked, it was Germany that declared war on the US, not the other way round.

@bookerdana You are putting words and positions into my mouth. To begin with, I am not a Boomer. I predate them by enough to have lived through WWII and remember it. Two uncles fought in it, and gratefully returned alive. I served my two years as a Vietnam Era Vet, gratefully not in Vietnam. I have nothing but the utmost respect for my fallen military brothers. But I thought we were talking about the nationalistic propaganda and disastrous foreign policies that get them killed.
