A Thank You for Giving Your All

[image/video - please log in to see this content]

There's not much enjoyment on this day, no picnic here.. I just got back from repaying my respects to the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice..... I was lucky to come back.. 59,000 lost in my war, but I didn't forget..

Most did.... Enjoy your picnic

P.S. Funny SW doesn't even have a group for Memorial Day.....

@KingofBones1 i did receive the flag that was draped over my father's casket.... a somber reason why we remember this weekend... for those who wrote a blank check to the government, up to and including their life...

@Kstrong I'm sorry for your loss. I too have lost many family members and good men in my platoon and battalion. It always hits home for me this occasion. That's why we did what we've done. For those who truly are grateful. Like you. Thank you for your support. And I promise. When I get to heaven. I will look in on him. Semper Fidelis.

@KingofBones1 thank you, that means so very much to me. My family , three generations, have given 150 years of service to our country... im grateful for the years of service, the price of freedom.... the months that they missed on family life... men that were spit on that served in Vietnam when they returned, they were the ones willing to serve, and not given the respect due.... suffering even after their return from the demons, scenes that they endured, the effects from agent orange, radiation and chemicals.... im grateful for all their service. My son became my hero when i signed him into the Marines, 3 days after he turned 17. He couldn't vote, buy cigarettes, or alcohol, but he was given a semi automatic gun and could die for our country....

@Kstrong That's so similar to me. It's amazing. I enlisted at 17. My grandfather actually retired at one star general USAF he was on the fast track to his second star but because of politics he quit he just couldn't stomach it anymore my Uncle Pete was a second lieutenant in Vietnam my uncle Chuck was a PJ who killed himself in 91 because of what he saw there my third Uncle was actually killed in khe sanh and his third tour because of what you talked about he did not feel like he belonged in the world and I understand his feeling because when I came home from my second tour my wife was in bed with a day trader and I saw them and they took everything in me not to lose it but instead I went right back down to the recruiter and told gunny find me back up for another tour so I completely understand and coming home to an empty airport was just the icing on the cake I've even had a beer poured on me and a California bar by a woman who called me similar names Bush's puppet baby killer child murder and worse but on the other side there has been a lot of good people cuz I believe truly are grateful for the service and sacrifices that we made and the people that I knew good people that never come home or those like my friend who killed himself in front of me his girlfriend my ex-wife and good buddy of mine all he said was with a blank stare in his eyes goodbye brother so trust me I understand more than most that's why I'm a longstanding member of the American legion and VFW cuz I believe in that cause veterans sticking together and family sticking together cuz if we don't look out for each other nobody will

@KingofBones1 thank you for your service, brings tears to my eyes the disregard and disrespect at the hands of civilians that have no f*cking idea of serving something bigger than yourself... for the greater good of society, keeping the peace so that they can act like that. My heartfelt thanks for your service... thank you!
