I tip based on service. Everyone starts at 25% and loses points throughout the night... dine-in only. Needs to be earned. You dont get a tip just for showing up.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M

@Hanginginthere thanks for BC!

I wish they could put out all their info. , so customers can calculate how they should tip, or if they should.

These are hard times, so, I understand the need for it. But, it's not an obligation.

I tip according to the service. And always in person. You never know if the person who it's intended for will ever receive it.
Umile · 41-45, F
@Hanginginthere Some have tipping jars. Some tip only by person. Some don't even need a tip. Service charge. ....

Smh. Every place of business is different I think.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@Umile ohhhhh yeah I wasn’t thinking about the tip jar thing, I can’t believe people even steal out of the jar
Umile · 41-45, F
@Hanginginthere nmh. Money can make people grow an extra inch of skin. Smh. Anything to get ahead. Idk what's so hard about being fair.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
As a customer, I don't like it. It's too confusing to me.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@CrazyMusicLover many others feel the same these days
2ndtimeguy · 61-69, M
Most restaurants will post on the bill 15 - 20 - 22 % but still up to you usually do 25% know most count on tips to survive
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@NativePortlander1970 true but at the same time those places they work at could pay them better
@Hanginginthere They start paying servers at casual restaurants minimum wage, you'll see menu prices significantly rise.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@NativePortlander1970 I see that happening soon
Adogslife · 61-69, M
It doesn’t bother me. I know I have more to give than the server, so leaving a tip is an expected part of the meal cost to me.

Every year, around Christmas, my wife and I will go to lunch. If the bill is $100, we’ll leave a $200 tip in cash and exit quickly before the server notices.
Madmonk · M
I do 20 percent then round up to the next whole number that’s a multiple of five. I tip everyone the same regardless of how the service or meal was.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@Madmonk ok rich man
Mudkip · 31-35, M
Sir would you like to answer some questions on the tablet?

Tablet: tip 15%

Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@Mudkip no!
hunkalove · 61-69, M
You mean like tipping over cows? Real popular in Texas! Wee doggies!
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I usually tip based on the service and I don't always tip the suggested amount.
Raaii · 22-25, F

The cows don't like it

I have never had a job that gets tipped, so I'm hesitant to go too far overboard. If I'm eating out, breakfast gets 15% and dinner gets 20%. Only once had I received service that was so poor I left nothing. But some other online services DO feel deceptive with some of the added-on tip fees. How about "show up and do your job, there's your tip"? That's what I've done for the past 35 years.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
when its added to the bill they ask too much
empanadas · 31-35, M
It needs to be regulated better. Too many businesses are exploiting workers
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@empanadas also very true

@Hanginginthere I rely on their coupons to get them, but on their card machine they ask for 15%/20%/25%
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@NativePortlander1970 tipping should really be only at sit down restaurants
@Hanginginthere That's my point.
