When he says "affirm the LGBTQ rules", I am assuming he means not breaking the common law that applies to all citizens but which some people think they can ignore because of their beliefs?
Colonelmustardseed · 36-40
This is all pointless bickering. The foster care system is screwed up for other reasons, and those kids are all vulnerable to all kinds of predators. They want people arguing about whether or not Christians should be allowed to foster kids instead of looking into why so many of those kids get abused under State care. Why aren’t there real qualifications to become foster parents?
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Colonelmustardseed
Wrong. Not all Christians are anti gay but a lot are due to evangelicalism and other sects that are more biblically literal. They want you to sign something that promises you'll accept the child as they are when they decide to foster. I find the vocab here misleading because you say "Christians are not allowed to foster kids," when the paragraph in the pic states that Christians before they foster children, must accept the kid's LGBT status NOT that Christians "can't ever foster children."
If you want to acknowledge the presence of predators that children can be placed under, then you should at least acknowledge the issues that arise when anti gay people foster or adopt gay children.
I mean that IS kind of like a KKK member adopting or fostering a black child, it's kind of the same thing almost.

@SatanBurger Something is wrong in the foster care system. There has been for a long time. If anyone really cares about the well-being of kids who end up in the system, they should acknowledge a lot needs to change that isn’t speculative.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Colonelmustardseed Yes there are multiple issues and they seem to be working on them, so good job!
Nothing speculative about it:

I know what you're trying to do when you call it speculation so I'll tell you that it kind of goes something like this, sure kids can lie about situations but all LGBT kids? If it's prevalent enough for federal health officials to send out a letter in 2011 trying to teach anti gay people to not be anti gay and if it's prevalent enough to have groups worried about it, sure ONE kid can be lying but all of them? The only way out of this situation is to respond back with gaslighting.
Nothing speculative about it:
Sixto Cancel says his ultra-religious foster family frequently talked about their disdain for his homosexuality at the dinner table, trashed his room and called him homophobic slurs. While he was still a teenager, he says, they kicked him out of their Connecticut home after he had lived there for nearly a decade.
“I’ve had foster homes who completely said you can’t live here if you’re gay,” said Cancel, a 21-year-old student at Virginia Commonwealth University who bounced between half a dozen foster homes while in care. “For a long time I had that self-hatred and uncomfortableness with who I am.”
Discrimination against gay and lesbian youths in foster care is prevalent enough around the country that federal health officials sent a letter in 2011 encouraging states to develop training for caseworkers and foster parents on the issue.

"It's a sad reality that most of the stories we hear about how LGBTQ youth are treated in foster care are pretty grim, " said Celeste Bodner, executive director of FosterClub. "Along with HRC, the young leaders of FosterClub recognize the urgent need to address the unequal treatment their LGBTQ peers face in foster care."

I weep for all the children that's not going to be raised by anti LGBT bigots, it's so scary to know they won't be forced into conversion therapy or be verbally abused every single day. I'm so sad, I'll cry all day now.
@SatanBurger Try not to break down when You read my own comment (((((HUGS))))) 😥🤗❤️

Brace yourselves. Raising a headcase who forces his foster parents to call him or her a kitty or a dinosaur will be the next requirement.

@SteelHands If your primary motivation for fostering a child is to abuse them, you shouldn’t be allowed to do it.
InHeaven · F
Ya, soon Christians will be deemed domestic terrorists that belong in concentration camps. This is just the beginning
Iwillwait · M
Kind of shocking but not really. I'm a Christian and can see that if a child were given up or thrown out of the home due to orrientation or identity issues, I can see how this may be prudent in the eyes of the Foster Care Placement, but only in a Case by Case manner.

This is just another way to divide people. It's about dividing gays from the Republican party and turning asian religion members and mideastern religion members against the "right wing Christian Republicans"
Adding another side division...
By pretending it's about gay ppl or saying that all Christians are evil it further fractures the voting public by denomination.
It's obvious to me. Howcome it isn't to anybody else?

So in other words religious people can't discriminate against LGBT children anymore, oh darn!

@SteelHands What’s wrong with fostering children while also respecting them? If a Jewish family were to foster a Christian child, would you be OK with them refusing to let the kid attend church or read the New Testament?
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@LeopoldBloom Many are deceived. Too many words. The evil one inverts the truth. I am here to save no one.
LeopoldBloom · M
@SteelHands If people can't commit to not abusing children left in their care, they shouldn't have children placed with them.

What would your version of a Christian foster family do should their fostered charge turn round one day and say "I feel more like my opposite sex than my given gender" ?

@Picklebobble2 The answer should be “accept that.”

Since when does the President have anything to do with foster homes?

cant groom them into wokeness in a stable house....

Kids rebel against their upbringing often as not. Thinking otherwise (regardless of the old trick of making us concerned) is the old trap of thinking anything guvmnt does is out of a G-A-F about someone other than their own well being.

Government here was anti Christian for decades. It's just now making the news because it's helping to divide and polarize people.
and? Christian’s have done enough in this world. they can literally take a hike.

My cousin's daughter was put into a christian foster home in 2000, her father had been abusing her and my cousin was considered too simple minded to care for her on her own. The foster parents treated her child horrendously, victim blamed her for her own abuse, made her wear winter sweaters during the heat of summer as punishment and would often not feed her. I saw what she was wearing during a family reunion and when my cousin told me why I exploded, asked another cousin that had a daughter about her age and size to get her a more summer season appropriate shirt that fit her and to change her into it. I was livid, even more so because the other relatives ignored it because they had little care for my cousin's daughter, she was the product of a rape, yet the family accused my cousin of lying about it because she was friends with the guy who did it, forcing her to keep Courtney, her daughter, and not have an abortion, despite being 20 when Mindy, my cousin, was violated. And my mother just cannot understand why I despise her side of the family so much. Because of this, and other things, Courtney lives with her girlfriend and her family, avoiding ours like the plague.
