hippyjoe1955 If by "globalist" you mean accepting you own is not the only nation and you need work with them, then what's the problem?
The European Union always was a problem for Britain. The French President, Charles de Gaulle, knew it would be and opposed Britain joining it.
Prime Minister, Edward Heath deceitfully called the European Economic Union as it was then, the "Common Market" and said it would not cost us our independence (he knew it would and indeed was a European Federalist) and so won a referendum on joining it. The USA - always a rather dubious ally to anyone - was all for that too as it hoped it would mean the UK losing influence in the world to America.
Unfortunately the EEC became the EU and started flooding everyone with vast numbers of Directives (law frameworks) - I have seen estimates as high as 100 000; probably highly exaggerated but certainly far more than what became the UK had created for itself since early-Mediaeval times 1000 years ago. This led to masses of burdensome bureaucracy but the aim is to protect the "Internal Market" while erecting barriers to imports to the
bloc. Those
CE stamps you see on some products mean the goods have come through part of those processes.
It was also very expensive. It hauls in and shuffles around huge amounts of tax-payers' money with no proper accounting and books that would never balance year after year. The European Commission has even been know to fire or transfer auditors who ask too many questions. Germany, France, Italy and Britain were the main bank-rollers. Hence one reason the EU was so determined to make life hard for the UK for wanting to leave, as well as teaching everyone else a lesson.
It also had a strong federalist thread among its leaders, and its proper name is the "European Union of the Cities and Regions" - but the more it tries to become a "nation" the more it becomes resisted. Yet it is infamous for not seeking its citizens' views and even for demanding referenda voting against continued membership be re-run to obtain the "correct" answer. They did not try that with Britain though. The United Kingdom Independence Party, which had members with pro-Europe-with-anti-EU views from all political colours despite sneers in the pro-EU Press of being "Right-wing xenophobes", was just one of quite a number of equivalents around the European nations. Though a few are types I'd certainly not want in Government.
What the future holds for the UK and for the EU is anyone's guess, but if the EU collapses it will be its own fault, and very messy for everyone.
Your country is better off not being in such a
bloc, while still being in the UN and its agencies, NATO, ISO, etc., etc.!
