Well, I don't like any form of Government sticking its nose in people's lives. Why is it important to indoctrinate people into hating eachother if you're providing such a service to the people?
I think that trade works, having an agreed upon currency that allows for much more diversity in trade although even that had major drawbacks.
What doesn't work is conditioning citizens into serving the interests of powerful political; corporate entities so much so that they are mindless consumers when there are other countries teaching their citizens to be as tough as nails though I suppose that the powers that be are putting all their eggs in technological warfare advances.
Why build an empire on broken dreams? What kind of legacy is that?

I think one has to ask which society we are talking about.
If you want to ask about all societies in general, it's a much harder question to answer.
I'd say most people survive and thrive better when we live together as
cooperative and interdependent groups.
One of the chronic problems is the marginalisation of minorities or misfits; the tendency for them to be less well cared for and often bullied.
The greatest difficulties arise when there is conflict over needs and wants,
and an inability to find a solution.
If you want to ask about all societies in general, it's a much harder question to answer.

@ZulXeroth No. Humans, like animals, instinctively need groups. We crave it. Whether it be beliefs, sports teams, or social stances, we are naturally divided. Sadly, since the most awful of the groups do the talking, it won't change and will likely cause more anger and division.

@SteelHands I agree wholeheartedly with fixing one’s self first. Maybe if we chose to support others in that, things would be better overall, no?

@ZulXeroth Therapy is not objective anyway. What kind of therapy ? according to whom ? and to follow who's ideas too ?
I know there are people out there who dream of perfect societies where everyone is equal but this will not be achieved till human beings are married and blended with machines.
And the later ? yes some actually do believe it would be for the best.

@SW-User if you ever find you have the energy to discuss such things again, there’s a place for it here.
I think one thing that really wears people out about these kinds of discussions over time is that others tend to listen with the intention of responding rather than listening to understand.
It sounds like you save your energy for what gives you more joy, and that’s great!

I believe that society is as it is inevitable that it would be. If you started from scratch it would return to approximately where it is now, it's only a matter of time. I think in that respect it works because it reflects our nature.

@Fable 3 is an absolute game changer, I know it was for me. Could not afford tuition, but still had the required skills and was able to land two different dream jobs and am now moving on to my ultimate dream location (Berlin).
On 4, do you then also think that interest should go out the window?
5 some places line up better in that regard than others, but I think the question of children borders eugenics a bit too closely. I do believe that we should make help for trauma and mental health sufferers a basic human right, and I think if we were more accepting of that as a society we would probably have less damaged children becoming destructive adults.
