Twitter should not be privately owned -. But what can you do if Congress ignores the law?

Corporate rule stinks.
What can we do?
justanothername · 51-55, M
Much like every other tech company out of Silicon Valley, Twitter was started as an idea. Much like many other companies from Silicon Valley it has become a very very successful idea. There is no need or reason why it should transfer owners to government control . It’s NOT a utility.

Its success or failure depends on how well it’s run and whether people like using it. If they don’t they will go elsewhere to the next IM start up.

So many shit colored brown shit lovers seem to despise big business and wealthy people yet the irony is that the biggest shit colored brown shirt lover is allegedly worth a billion dollars and supposedly made his money In realestate deals.

So ironic.

@justanothername you make a great case for it with every post

@Slade Ditto

@justanothername "I know you are but what am I" still not on a function key for you?
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
My electrical provider is privately owned. My gas provider is privately owned. Only my water is run by the government but I know others in my state that even their water provider is privately owned. Why would you expect a social media to be government owned. That is ridiculous.
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
@Roundandroundwego What law are you talking about?
@Funtoy4u none. I'm never mentioning anti trust again. You don't need the public interest.
You win. Know nothing -. Please.
JackJames · M
@Roundandroundwego Supposedly it passed the anti trust review. Now is there the possibility that the people performing the anti trust review have an ulterior motive for passing Twitter? Yes. But unless you have proof that 100% this is false, there’s nothing anyone can do.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
It’s quite funny. Last year when conservatives were complaining about being censored on Twitter saying it violated their free speech , Twitter ownership and many Twitter users argued freedom of speech doesn’t apply to Twitter because it’s a private company. Now that Musk owns it, these same people say the government should get involved to make sure he isn’t censoring anyone, and it shouldn’t be privately owned 😂
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
Why do you think Twitter is a public utility?
@Funtoy4u anti trust laws exist -. The USA once broke up the phone company using those laws.
Nobody expected you to function as a country with laws. You can always say laws don't exist. You don't have to democracy. You just werkkk there -. Good. So, I win. Ownership is fun.
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
@Roundandroundwego You do not know much about the law you are trying to apply here. If you are using the phone company as the example of the law. That was done under the monopoly laws. Twitter does not come close to being a monopoly. Read up on it before you try to preach it please.
@Funtoy4u obviously everyone likes being in a private public square. Obviously you want it to be normal and there is never an alternative, ever. Okay. I'll never talk regulation again -. Murka deserves it. God-damned dumb.
akindheart · 61-69, F
well isn't facebook privately owned??? or that is the excuse Markie uses to censor speech
@akindheart another case of failure to regulate. Certainly you should pretend it's precedent - legal and above US laws.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Roundandroundwego facebook has been censoring and fact checking anyone who doesnt agree with liberal ideology. Hardly freedom of speech. Facebook needs to be regulated AND censored
I’m a fan of free markets. For better or worse.

@BiasForAction do you believe that there should be no restraints on what is sold?
Nobody had a problem with @jack or the Saudis owning it for ten years.
The second the Democrat have their bat phone cancel conservative hotline shut down..
Twitters a national security threat.
Twitter shouldn’t be a private owned company..

Oy vey
Further more. Both dems and republicans have slow walked any proceeding to rebuke article 320, that would make big tech liable for 20 years..
I bet they move on that real quick now
Whodunnit · M
Why shouldn't it?
@Whodunnit the country already has laws requiring Congress to regulate the web and the tech giants. Not knowing is obviously an advanced art for you.
Whodunnit · M
@Roundandroundwego This may come as a shock to you, but... I'm not American. There's no reason why I should know what Congress (whatever that is) regulates and what it doesn't.

That's why I was asking.
@Whodunnit one hundred percent of everyone is not aware and nobody ever, ever can be.
akindheart · 61-69, F
Hmmm you mean like facebook???
@akindheart yuh think?
Nobody can keep up -. Just be owned. Not thinking, just a drone.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
So you prefer socialism?
Now it’s a problem. LOL
