Elon Musk Buys Twitter for 44 billion

It's happening ...

... How can a guy be so obscenely rich and waste his money on something so ..... Useless....

Also, I wouldn't say it's useless. He gets his grip on one major vehicle for information. Whether you consider it a reliable one or not is irrelevant when a significant slice of the voting population does.

@BlueGreenGrey And might as well end up like those, a niche site most people stay away from.

The fact it's currently mainstream doesn't guarantee anything about its future.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Oh I get why he is doing this, it's the same reason why Disney bought out ABC or Microsoft bought out NBC.

It's all the free publicity! Just think of all the money he will save putting out all the stuff he wants to push.

It actually has absolutely nothing to do with free speech. Only his speach for free... As advertising!!!

Anything else is just coincidental. And a good bargaining chip to boot!

He is pulling another goggle on everyone! Just another example!

We are in the middle of the information age, yet many still don't understand just what that means.

It means information on just your point of views! And the base vehicle for that is mindless, brainwashing advertising!

Just like all the others. Only Google was the first to recognize it and take action quickly and cheaply. . He is paying a very dear penny for this recognition so late though.

BTW Google itself started on the "free speech band wagon" in the 1990s by buying out Deja News. Now own YouTube and over 200 other companies.

None of the big advertisers (Google, Microsoft, Disney) got in so late as he has.

Does anyone doubt that Disney made out big time advertising their own movies for basically nothing? Especially on their own advertising if not on the news and entertainment programs.

Does anyone doubt ESPN made out big time buying out all the sports rights then charging exorbitant advertising costs on top of the basic subscription costs?

I forgot to mention the last! ESPN has all the professional sports contracts throughout the world.

Is anyone really fighting that? Doesn't anyone really care? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just ask any sports fanatic if they really care! It's just so called "free enterprise" at a cost of your own voice as well as your own brain!

He paid more then a national product of a small nation for a fucking toy....😖
great move by a great man

The only change that will happen with this is libs won’t be the only ones who can speak freely. Now conservatives will be able to speak freely as well and not get suspended or banned. His quote that a good social platform infuriates the extreme 10% on the left and the right is true.

But make no mistake, the man is a genius and he’s not doing this to lose money. He’s thought this out and can accomplish his goal for Twitter and make a killing as well.
@JesseInTX But the "facts" you gave me have nothing to do with the point. You think Conservatives were unfairly censored on Twitter, because of your victim-complex, but you have no evidence of this. I'm just waiting for an example of a Conservative who was unfairly banned.

So far you said Trump, but he actually broke the TOS many times.
And you keep bringing up disinformation, but only specific disinformation goes against Twitter TOS.

So are you ready to admit that you were wrong, or do you have some evidence for your claim?
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@BohemianBoo you’re a typical lib who does not want to admit anything. Again, a reminder of our broken educational system. There are hundreds of examples but no facts will convince you otherwise.

The opinions of someone who had never had to pay his own way or his own bills do not matter to me. There are hundreds of conservatives who have been banned or censored while libs like you were able to pass on lies without repercussions. You and your ilk are just upset that will be changing.
@JesseInTX I'm not a Liberal, I'm a Leftist.

Give me ONE example of a Conservative who was banned, despite not breaking the TOS.

Might be time to delete my account. I don't trust him any further than I can throw him.

Anyone who thinks this is going to usher in some kind of Golden Age of Free Speech is just being silly.

Same goes for anyone who thinks that Twitter was somehow quality up until now. 😂
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@SW-User Twitter is basically just mainstream 4chan anyway, a lot of it is utter awfulness and I've seen some of the most vile bs in my life on twitter.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
If only people were as upset at how politicians spend your money.
@MrBrownstone Most people are.

Twitter isn't useless. It's a very powerful information exchange tool in 21sf century. Also he's a very smart/shrewd person. Don't judge a person's acumen who's ahead of you in every field. I always see people trolling him for his decisions/way of conducting his life yet he ends up achieving what he really wants to get, always, no matter what.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
It’s official. Elon bought Twitter.

@MrBrownstone Now they have to go find some irrelevant site to haunt . Once Musk takes control, I will renew my account!
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@TexChik If they don’t like it they can start their own.
That's the end of Twitter.
Elessar · 26-30, M
Western oligarch* 🤪
Maybe time to finally open an account.
Maybe now we can hear all sides of the debate instead of the government approved version, sanitized to push the narrative of the moment..
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
democrats:

love to complain about how billionaires spend their own money on things...

never complain about how they spend our money on useless things...
I was wondering the same thing, like damn he could have done so much with that money instead he put it into nonsense
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Yeah I don't buy the free speech spiel, which if it is true is utterly childish. It's Twitter, who gives a shit

Agree wholeheartedly
@MrBrownstone Good luck with that, dipshit. 😆
DDonde · 31-35, M
It's definitely not useless, if you trend on twitter you have access to an enormous audience.
SW-User
I've never tweeted ever, and I've made it thus far in life
