Following just doesn’t mean wanting to have a chat.

For instance the follower got fascinated by one of your posts and would really look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Most people who follow only do because they’re hoping for a follow back. If you’re particularly known and popular it might be because they like your content.

I follow and sometimes favorite people because I enjoy their posts and want to be sure I see them in my feed.

These days I just ignore them and 'archive' any messages they send me without opening or reading them. I believe the SW rules say a person can't send a second message until the first is responded to, so discarding the message without reading seems like a way to block any further messages.

Yes, I do. Random followers don't make me wonder.

It's the ones you know for quite a while, or know well (or so you thought), and then they disappear like a ghost. Then I wonder.
