I legitimately got a 7-day ban from Reddit for repeating an old saying.

The saying in question?

Give a man enough rope, and he'll hang himself.

The context? It was a DM with a homophobic POS who is in complete denial of the fact that being gay or bi or any other orientation isn't a lifestyle, and that not acting on it isn't an option.

This guy was permitted to call me a worthless scumbag and a groomer, and suffered no consequences, but when I told him to go ahead and keep talking, and said I was handing him rope, I got banned from Reddit for encouraging violence.

Make it make sense.

I guess they thought it was a threat of violence. You're allowed to name-call on Reddit, but not tell people to kill themselves. I wouldn't have assumed that's what you were doing, but IDK, maybe they didn't know the phrase you were referencing.
