Why is Reddit asking this from me? I mean like why now?

Didn't the whole law thing come into effect like months ago?
and how come its asking on one of my Reddit profiles, but not the other? ;/

and what I dont understand is that you can show them a selfie, but with all the AI out there, cant someone just ask AI for a selfie? and boom?

It's probably only required for some subreddits, and/or depends on what you post/comment. And yes, automatic age estimation from a selfie is a joke. Teenagers have gotten around that with masks, other people's photos or just being rated older with a genuine selfie.
