If a pm goes straight to your message requests do you take the risk?

I don't think that PMs on here carry the same risks as opening email attachments which may contain a virus.

The site owners responded recently to a request from a member to be able to block any further messages immediately in the message tab. Although some messages may be objectionable - and I know that young women get a particularly hard time on Socials - I can't see how reading messages is going to cause you any lasting damage. According to the saying I learnt as a kid: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me"....

I generally don't reply to PMs unless I've interacted with the person in these public threads in some way first, or if they put a compelling message in the first PM. Hi or Hey or How r u from a compete stranger just gets ignored.

With my settings only pms from people I’ve added go directly to my main mailbox.

In your age range pervs will spam your inbox. It slows down when you age.
