They set a limit of messages within certain time limits to prevent [mostly make users] from mass texting [female users] to regulate it and in efforts to keep users here. When I say mostly, it's not based in the settings but merely factual effects of this measure by management. It's an add on of the number of messages one can send to another user without receiving their response. I believe it's two or three messages at this point and they are blocked from any further attempts to message one. The latter has been really effective for me and reduced the harassment by users I don't interact with.

@SUPERVlXEN Aaaah yes I get that – that makes a lot of sense. Usually when I am chatting with someone (almost always male users), messages go ping-pong, back and forth. And I think I've never started a chat, I just responded to messages I received.

When you made the first reply for a user contacting you the safety guard rules are no longer active. I suspect the same goes for the number of messages one can send, as long as they've been replied on. With this is mind I guess our OP here has sent out numerous of messages without receiving replies before they kept mass texting others.
