I’m guilty of that, when I get overly busy or overwhelmed I kind of shut down. I tend to be friends with people who understand that though because I try to be really up front about my tendency to do so. And I am trying to be better about at least saying ‘hey, I’m in a rough place but I’m not trying to ignore or ghost you’.
When it happens to me…because I do it myself I try to give people space to deal with whatever they’re dealing with. If it goes on for a while, like over a month, (or if I know they’re specifically avoiding me and not anyone else) I’m done. I’m not willing to be a fallback option when nobody ‘better’ is around.
